58] – The Detention Watch Network [program@detentionwatchnetwork.org] on Thurs., April 23 at 3 PM ET get over to a segment in the webinar series: Melt ICE! Environmental Justice and Detention Abolition.  This webinar will discuss the connections between the movements for environmental justice and detention abolition. We will highlight how different DWN members and partners, including having speakers from Fight Toxic Prisons and Earth Justice, have historically been working at the intersection of both issues and uplift current efforts under Trump’s second presidency.

Detention and ICE are toxic to our communities and the land. Some examples include the opening of a detention center in Everglades, Florida despite environmental concerns; the use of military bases to detain children despite health concerns or the drain on resources like water in local communities when a detention center opens.
