[jcoode-paxchristiusa.org@shared1.ccsend.com] reminds you that Lent begins on
Wednesday, March 5. Pax Christi will be on the grounds of the US Capitol for a
brief prayer service and distribution of ashes, starting at 9 AM. Pray for
those suffering in Gaza and in other war-torn areas, for immigrants and asylum
seekers, for progress in the work for nuclear abolition, and more. Find the
prayer vigil near the corner of First Street and Constitution Avenue, NE.
36] – Adam Russell Taylor, Sojourners [sojourners@sojo.net] on Wed., March 5 at noon is inviting you to join a Capitol Witness to speak truth to power! Sojourners, the Washington Interfaith Staff Community (WICS), and dozens of other partners invite you to join the launch of a Faithful Wednesday Witness, a weekly multi-faith vigil at the U.S. Capitol. The first gathering is at the Senate East Front, Grassy Area 8 (bounded by Constitution Ave. NE, First St NE, Northeast Dr. and the East Front Plaza). Vigils will continue every Wednesday throughout March—12, 19 & 26. Our nation faces an escalating constitutional crisis fueled by the Trump administration’s overreach and unconstitutional actions. A lack of leadership in Congress has allowed this crisis to grow, as it cedes its role as a co-equal branch of government. The faith community has a unique opportunity to raise a prophetic and pastoral call, urging Congressional leaders to act. These nonpartisan vigils will remain nonpartisan while speaking truth to power, highlighting what’s at stake and the communities already affected. They will feature faith leaders from diverse traditions offering inspirational prayers, reflections, and calls to faithful action. 40] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide. A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action, Monday through Friday, for the past year. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Wed., March 5, Thurs., March 6, Mon., March 10 & Tues., March 11.
