50] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide.  A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action, Monday through Friday, for the past year. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Thurs., March 20, Mon., March 24, Tues., March 25 & Wed., March 26.  Visit https://jvp-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Un0Lupy1SFObVVXJaZO5UQ?_x_zm_rtaid=8L0JUS3pQkenMGtx9ha3mQ.1732760660364.03949df73aedc7035fc618f76c52fc75&_x_zm_rhtaid=249#/registration

55] – Join the Social Housing Working Group [social.housing.wg@gmail.com] for its biweekly organizing meeting on Thurs., March 20 at 6 PM ET. The Social Housing Working Group seeks to educate Metro DC DSA chapter members and the general public about social housing and to facilitate collective action in support of the passage and implementation of the Green New Deal for Housing Amendment Act. The legislation proposes to create mixed-income, district-owned housing with market rate units that subsidize a larger number of affordable units. It's a pioneering approach that deepens affordability, invests surplus funds into the creation of more social housing, and locks-in financial sustainability. The bill also includes climate and labor standards and elected tenant boards with oversight over building management. This event is open to both DSA Members and supporters. On March 6 at 6 PM, there is a Social Housing Organizing Meeting. link to attend this virtual event will be emailed upon RSVP: https://actionnetwork.org/events/march-20-2025-social-housing-organizing-meeting?link_id=68&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-7-2025&email_referrer=email_2655314&email_subject=metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-14-2025&&

59] – Popular Democracy [cpd@populardemocracy.org] on Thurs., March 20 at 7 PM ET will hold a National Fight Back call. Take a stand for the 14th Amendment—a cornerstone of Black liberation that was born to ensure nobody is treated as less than a human being.  Right now, extremists are trying to rip that foundation away to target immigrants, erase our communities, and unravel the progress we’ve fought generations to secure.  It’s time to be in community with one another, hear from elected leaders fighting for our rights like Rep. Nydia Velasquez, and recharge for the fight ahead with spoken word artist Camilo Montoya. These calls will continue each Thursday through December 18. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/cpda/event/550558/?ms=EM+NationalCallFeb132+PD&emci=1adcad8a-8ae9-ef11-90cb-0022482a94f4&emdi=1bdcad8a-8ae9-ef11-90cb-0022482a94f4&ceid=447376

61] – Greenpeace USA [info@greenpeaceusa.org] is on trial. Get an update on Thursdays, March 20 & 27 from 8:30 to 9:30 PM. ‌ ‌Week two of the trial for Big Oil company Energy Transfer’s $300 million lawsuit against Greenpeace USA, Greenpeace International, and Greenpeace Fund is underway, and the world is officially watching. Beyond its potential impacts on Greenpeace entities, this case could establish dangerous new legal precedents that could hold any participant at protests responsible for the actions of others at those protests, chilling free speech in the U.S. and beyond.

Energy Transfer’s $300 million lawsuit attempts to rewrite the history of the Indigenous-led protests at Standing Rock — but we’re never going to let that happen. In direct defiance of Energy Transfer’s attempted racist rewrite, last week’s call focused on the actual powerful history of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest movement and discussed how to continue supporting Indigenous-led struggles to protect land, water, and sovereignty. Hear how billionaires and big polluters profit while our communities pay the price. From poisoned air and water to climate disasters, hear from frontline activists about the real cost of corporate power — and how we can hold them accountable.  RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/greenpeace/event/751852/?utm_source=inc__250304_webinar_invite_37zzzzzzzzzcz&utm_medium=inc__250304_webinar_invite_37zzzzzzzzzcz&sourceid=1021237&emci=38dc92ef-52f9-ef11-90cd-0022482a9fb7&emdi=3adc92ef-52f9-ef11-90cd-0022482a9fb7&ceid=1705696

62] – Public Citizen [action@citizen.org] on Thurs., March 20 at 8 PM ET is holding a Rise for Freedom Training Launch Call. We don’t have kings in America, and we won’t let a handful of billionaires run our country into the ground. As we face the growing threat of autocracy in our country, it's more crucial than ever that we come together to build a stronger, more united movement for freedom and democracy. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/risefordemocracy/event/763611/?utm_source=PC&emci=4289fa2e-4b04-f011-90cd-0022482a9fb7&emdi=984c372d-5304-f011-90cd-0022482a9fb7&ceid=24639284

The March 20 session is for individuals interested in hosting in-person gatherings for the training series. Come learn more about the Rise for Freedom training program, ask questions, and connect with fellow organizers! This introductory call will launch a series of weekly two-hour training sessions that will be held through May 8. These sessions will explore how grassroots organizers like you can organize against the threats we face and build capacity for mobilization within your communities.

63] – Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] on Thurs., March 20 at 9 PM ET is holding a Campaign to Victory Call on how to beat King Wannabes and Win Special Elections going on right now. There was another week of MAGA insanity. So what else is new? How about some good news in these dark times? PDA will be identifying where it is succeeding, how to build upon that, and how to bring in victories in the Special Elections April 1 in FL-01 and FL-06 and WI. (Vote by mail in voters’ hands now.)

Discuss easy ways we all can make a real difference to help protect endangered communities, buttress the democracy we hold so dear, and ultimately defeat Trump, Musk, and the rest of MAGA, and make our future more progressive. Register at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZcrcuGgrDItHdeYV7F9QQsruFMypvcMt5Fc#/registration
