29] -- The Anne Frank Center USA <> is inviting you on Tues., Feb. 27 at 5 PM to "Anne Frank Revisited" presented by TOLI:  The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights. This special program features Dina Kraft, co-author of the NY Times bestselling book, "My Friend Anne Frank: The Inspiring and Heartbreaking Story of Best Friends Torn Apart and Reunited against All Odds.”  The narrative is by the late Hannah Pick-Goslar, who tells the story of her special friendship with Anne, including their shared childhood experiences of innocence; the trauma of Nazi persecution in Holland; and of their last, tragic encounter, starving and near death at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp.  The book provides a new perspective on the most recognizable victim of the Holocaust, and a searing look at what countless children endured at the hands of the Nazis.  Register at

30] -- Councilmember Jawando introduced a bill to ban consent searches in Montgomery County: the Freedom to Leave Act (Bill 2-24). The MD Attorney General released an opinion saying that the Council could not pass the STEP Act’s provision to prohibit minor traffic stops (for now). Jawando introduced the bill to move forward with the STEP Act's ban on consent searches. Banning consent searches will remove one of the reasons that officers stop drivers and reduce racial disparities in traffic enforcement.  MoCo DSA will be testifying alongside its Decrim MoCo coalition partners in support of the Freedom to Leave Act at the public hearing on this bill on Tues., Feb. 27 at 7 PM ET.
