66] - The SNF Parkway Theatre [info@mdfilmfest.com] is offering a virtual film JOHN LEWIS: GOOD TROUBLE, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dawn Porter (TRAPPED, GIDEON’S ARMY), chronicles the life and career of the legendary civil rights activist and Democratic Representative from Georgia. Using interviews and rare archival footage, JOHN LEWIS: GOOD TROUBLE chronicles John Robert Lewis’ 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health-care reform and immigration. Using present-day interviews with Lewis, now 80 years old, Porter explores his childhood experiences, his inspiring family and his fateful meeting with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1957. In addition to her interviews with Lewis and his family, Porter’s primarily cinéma verité film also includes interviews with political leaders, Congressional colleagues, and other people who figure prominently in his life. This film came out in 2020, and the RUNTIME is 96 minutes.  To see the documentary, go to https://watch.eventive.org/parkway/play/5ef4a9a8829624004be438b5?utm_source=General+Interest&utm_campaign=80968c3219-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_06_30_02_51&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a9020ed94a-80968c3219-104899617.

67] – On Fri., July 3 from 9 AM to 9 PM, get with the Climate Strikes vs. Chase Bank Every Friday! Flatten the climate pollution curve together! Help run an online climate strike at Chase Bank--the #1 investor in fossil fuels of any bank in the world--every Friday until further notice. You can post your own virtual climate strike on social media in 4 easy steps: https://www.climatefirst.us/calendar. Contact Ted at tconwell@climatefirst.us/ (301) 589-7598 (mobile). Visit https://www.facebook.com/events/3398894953477457/.

68] –  On Fri., July 3 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, come to the Grace Baptist Church, 3201 The Alameda., Baltimore 21218, for a Food Rescue. Bring a bag, bring a friend, and take delicious, nutritious, free rescued food. This will continue every Friday through Sept. 4.  See https://www.facebook.com/events/479389629278759/?event_time_id=479389689278753.

70] –  On Fri., July 3 from noon to 1 PM, call on Trump to Denounce Uyghur Oppression, hosted by Uyghur Rally at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, WDC 20220. In response to the millions of Uyghur people unjustly imprisoned in concentration camps, the US recently enacted the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020. This law states that “the President should call on such authorities to immediately close the internment camps” and calls on the president to initiate Magnitsky sanctions against guilty officials. As of yet, the president has done neither. Call on Trump to formally denounce the concentration camps and to initiate targeted sanctions against guilty Chinese officials. The moral benefits outweighs the potential economic consequences. See https://www.facebook.com/events/3157047177682606/.

71]  On Fri., July 3 from 12:30 to 3:30 PM, All Out Against Annexation – DC, hosted by American Muslims for Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace - DC Metro at the Embassy of Israel, 3514 International Drive NW, WDC 20008-3021.  Stand firmly against Israel's plan to annex the West Bank. This is land theft in broad daylight and is a continuation of Israel's colonial policies and dispossession of Palestinians. Follow social distancing guidelines for everyone's safety and encourage all to wear masks and bring their own signs and prayer rugs if they will participate in the prayer. NO TO ANNEXATION.  NO TO APARTHEID.  See https://www.facebook.com/events/267895674491849/.

72] – Discuss the intersections of climate and racial justice, and honor the struggle for our collective freedom by joining a special “Independence” Day virtual Fire Drill Friday rally on July 3 at 2 PM ET. Jane Fonda, Winona LaDuke and others for a conversation around what freedom really means in the USA on this “Independence” day. Get involved at https://www.facebook.com/events/1119090161806640/.

73] – On Fri., July 3 from 4 to 7 PM, join the DC July 4th Rally + Speak Out, hosted by Refuse Fascism DC in the Black Lives Matter Plaza.  This is no time to celebrate patriotism. 74] -- There is usually a Quaker Vigil for Racial Justice on Fridays, from 5 to 6 PM, hosted by the Baltimore Quaker Peace and Justice Committee (BQPJC) outside the Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Email homewoodfriends@gmail.com or call 410-235-4438. Quaker values call us to speak truth and to seek equality for all people. We aim to follow Bayard Rustin’s wisdom that “we need, in every community, a group of angelic troublemakers” and John Lewis’s call to “make good trouble.”

75] - On Fri., July 3 from 6:30 to 8 PM, get over to Frederick Douglass in Lincoln Park: Community History Rally. In a demonstration of solidarity and recognition of the history of Lincoln Park in Washington, D.C. members of local, regional and national Douglassonian communities are called to assemble for a necessary community. Nathan Richardson will present his internationally known living history reenactment of Honorable Frederick Douglass to deliver "What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?" (1852). All CDC and DC DOH guidelines will be followed. Go to https://www.facebook.com/events/702353100589699/. John Muller, author of “Frederick Douglass in Washington, D.C.: The Lion of Anacostia (2012),” is organizing the event, along with several support organizations and individuals.

76] – On Sat., July 4 from 9 AM to 1PM, Derwood Hosts a Drive for Neighbors in Need by Milk Lady Farmers Markets.  It will also happen on Sat., Aug. 1 and Sat., Sept. 5. Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless provides vital services to its neighbors, including emergency shelter. The demands for emergency shelter are increasing in light of COVID 19 and the economic ripple effects. The market will host a collection drive for shelter supplies. Bring items to the Derwood Farmers Market, 16501 Redland Road, Rockville 20855, welcome booth, and Neighborhood Church will deliver them. Charles St., Baltimore 21218-5927. Continuing the Saturday protests against racism & police terror, this will be a march against the racist mass incarceration system and in solidarity with all prisoners behind bars and detention centers and their families. Commemorate Frederick Douglas and his famous speech: “What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?” Following the March, there will be a brief assembly. Hear from family members and loved ones of those locked behind bars.  Visit https://www.facebook.com/events/2696232280700209/.

82] – For the 35th year, Baltimore's anti-nuclear weapons community will gather on August 6 and 9. The commemorations will indicate our support for the Black Lives Matter protests.  Signs will state Demilitarize the Police and Denuclearize the Military.

On Aug. 6 from 5 to 6:30 PM with signs, banners, ribbons and artwork, we will commemorate the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Our location will be at four corners at 33rd and North Charles Street in Baltimore.  This area was selected because of its proximity to Johns Hopkins University, the #1 nuclear weapons contractor among U.S. colleges. In fiscal year 2017, JHU received $828 million in weapons contracts.

On Aug. 9 from 1 to 2:30 PM, we will gather outside Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Charles St. to support the United Nations Ban Treaty and spread out on corners up Charles Street as far as possible towards the Stony Run Meetinghouse, 5116 N. Charles St.  Besides having participants holding signs, banners, ribbons and artwork commemorating the atomic attack on Nagasaki, there will be a car caravan going from Homewood to Stony Run and back.  Then there will be an anti-nuclear weapons strategy session outside Homewood.

On Sun., Aug.  9 at 7 PM, there will be a Zoom conference with Vince Intondi, the author of “African Americans against the Bomb: Nuclear Weapons, Colonialism, and the Black Freedom Movement.”  Besides discussing the book, we will analyze the film IN OUR HANDS, a documentary about the largest peace demonstration in U.S. history on June 12, 1982, calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons.   Why did we have such a large anti-nuclear weapons movement?  Can we do it again? Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

85] – The Trump Administration is again beating the war drums.  Most recently, the target is Iran.  Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton, convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will not tolerate his abuse of power.

Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time, the following day. Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

86] -- If you would like to get rid of books, videos, DVDs, records, tarps and table cloths, contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

87] -- Can you use any book shelves? Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

88] -- Join an extraordinary global campaign for the elimination of nuclear weapons: http://www.globalzero.org/sign-declaration. A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons and a majority of the global public agrees.  This is an historic window of opportunity.  With momentum already building in favor of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

89] – A Peace Park Antinuclear Vigil takes place every day in Lafayette Park, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 24 hours a day, since June 3, 1981. Go to http://prop1.org; call 202-682-4282.

“One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
