66] - The SNF
Parkway Theatre [info@mdfilmfest.com] is offering a virtual film JOHN LEWIS:
GOOD TROUBLE, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Dawn Porter (TRAPPED, GIDEON’S
ARMY), chronicles the life and career of the legendary civil rights activist
and Democratic Representative from Georgia. Using interviews and rare archival
footage, JOHN LEWIS: GOOD TROUBLE chronicles John Robert Lewis’ 60-plus years
of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun
control, health-care reform and immigration. Using present-day interviews with
Lewis, now 80 years old, Porter explores his childhood experiences, his
inspiring family and his fateful meeting with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in
1957. In addition to her interviews with Lewis and his family, Porter’s
primarily cinéma verité film also includes interviews with political leaders,
Congressional colleagues, and other people who figure prominently in his life.
This film came out in 2020, and the RUNTIME is 96 minutes. To see the documentary, go to https://watch.eventive.org/parkway/play/5ef4a9a8829624004be438b5?utm_source=General+Interest&utm_campaign=80968c3219-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_06_30_02_51&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a9020ed94a-80968c3219-104899617.

70] – On Fri., July 3 from noon to 1 PM, call on Trump to Denounce
Uyghur Oppression, hosted by Uyghur Rally at 1500 Pennsylvania Ave.
NW, WDC 20220. In response to the millions of Uyghur people unjustly imprisoned
in concentration camps, the US recently enacted the Uyghur Human Rights Policy
Act of 2020. This law states that “the President should call on such
authorities to immediately close the internment camps” and calls on the
president to initiate Magnitsky sanctions against guilty officials. As of yet,
the president has done neither. Call on Trump to formally denounce the
concentration camps and to initiate targeted sanctions against guilty Chinese
officials. The moral benefits outweighs the potential economic consequences.

35th year, Baltimore's anti-nuclear weapons community will gather on August 6
and 9. The commemorations will indicate our support for the Black Lives Matter
protests. Signs will state Demilitarize the Police and Denuclearize the
Military.
On Aug. 6 from 5 to 6:30 PM with signs,
banners, ribbons and artwork, we will commemorate the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima. Our location will be at four corners at 33rd and North Charles
Street in Baltimore. This area was selected because of its proximity to
Johns Hopkins University, the #1 nuclear weapons contractor among U.S.
colleges. In fiscal year 2017, JHU received $828 million in weapons
contracts.
On Aug. 9 from 1 to 2:30 PM, we will gather
outside Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Charles St. to support the

strategy session outside Homewood.

with Vince Intondi, the author of “African Americans against the Bomb: Nuclear
Weapons, Colonialism, and the Black Freedom Movement.” Besides discussing
the book, we will analyze the film IN OUR HANDS, a documentary about the
largest peace demonstration in U.S. history on June 12, 1982, calling for the
abolition of nuclear weapons. Why did we have such a large
anti-nuclear weapons movement? Can we do it again? Contact Max at

85] – The
Trump Administration is again beating the war drums. Most recently, the
target is Iran. Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war
against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump
Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress
can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums
for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton,
convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike
would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will
not tolerate his abuse of power.
Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound
to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran
or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and
N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local
time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack
occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM,
local time, the following day. Contact

A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of
nuclear weapons and a majority of the global public agrees. This is an
historic window of opportunity. With momentum already building in favor
of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the
balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

“One is called to live nonviolently, even
if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to
turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an
attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the
better" - Daniel Berrigan
