presidential elections in recent history, hear a conversation on how, amid
multiple crises, people can come together to navigate this historic moment. Guests include Erica Chenoweth is the Berthold Beitz Professor

73] – In Maryland, a handful
of corporations, including Perdue and Mountaire Farms, control each step of
broiler chicken production, from chick breeding to poultry processing. The
companies own the birds and contract with farmers to raise them. The region's
farms are raising more chickens, but on fewer farms, because farm size has been
increasing. And weak state and federal regulations allow corporations to profit
at the expense of farmers, workers, communities, taxpayers, and the
environment. So how do we fix it? At noon on Friday, July 10, meet online to
discuss the corporate control of Maryland's poultry industry and how you can
get involved to help change things. RSVP at https://secure.foodandwateraction.org/act/md-friday-corporate-power-poultry-industry?j=620613&sfmc_sub=5823356&l=35&mid=100001791&utm_source=MarketingCloud&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=FWA_Food_Factory+Farms_MD_Factory+Farm+Friday+Vertical+Integ+(FWA%2c+noGL)_LH0720&ms=onor-em-07092020-FWA_Food_Factory+Farms_MD_Factory+Farm+Friday+Vertical+Integ+(FWA%2c+noGL)_LH0720&oms=onor-em-07092020-FWA_Food_Factory+Farms_MD_Factory+Farm+Friday+Vertical+Integ+(FWA%2c+noGL)_LH0720&eml_name=FWA_Food_Factory+Farms_MD_Factory+Farm+Friday+Vertical+Integ+(FWA%2c+noGL)_LH0720&eml_id=620613&gs=GxlJbkxjcq%2B8UZOd9mKlA%2FrUqmVv9Bhub1uCcnoOsk%2FAQ6T%2FAXyET%2BMg3cRAarznEzHCt2OjmsdtrlSDEDixGGAEUZALOZueWujWnmqqAL6EdUG%2FrkG9nV1e1aPSVG%2Br&af=RA1%2BJp3N228aRV69knhQi6HdXOURCg1a8LjFy%2FqVNQ3Po1gpJ2TWtaez2njMlOuEAnWCHkgEsbpWshTz9SyXZHZ4ZBqwHCVVpKJ%2BZXlAWLZyR%2BzfO2QzqSyd2JPeL%2BzCwsk6jgcMJb7Pj3wbBih8ImqkfiHWDev%2BgezUDN3cgbh1mDCeaXiPKbkB9fKqQpGU.

–The COVID-19 pandemic has
exacerbated inequities in health care long felt by vulnerable populations,
shining a spotlight on the lack of access to critical mental health care and
behavioral health treatment in communities of color. Members of these
communities, who make up a large portion of the essential workforce, risk
infection in order to financially support themselves and their families.
Indeed, minority communities have some of the highest infection rates and are
disproportionately affected by the economic fallout of COVID-19, posing threats
to both mental and physical health, including increased rates of anxiety,
depression, and substance abuse. As the pandemic forces more mental health
practices online, treatment is further out of reach for members of communities
with limited access to technology.
On Fri., July 10 at 1 PM
EDT, Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) will host a conversation on the
compounding mental health impacts of the pandemic on members of vulnerable
populations, including lack of access to mental health care and health risk
behavior intervention, inequities in access to telehealth, absence of
culturally responsive care, and how to combat the existing barriers to care
that these communities already face. Sign up for the webinar at https://phr.org/issues/covid-19-pandemic/events-and-webinars/.
75] – Join the Defund the Police Policy Webinar
on Fri., July 10 at 2 PM ET. Sign up at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJcrduqhrD4oEtRdLSapcdVQuHH6nShSCiwl?akid=430.3544589.M9rcGV&rd=1&t=2. It seems that trained professionals decided
that they could do a better job than the police in handling cases like mental
health and homelessness. It’s time for cities across the US to do the same. But
to pressure them to do it, people must organize in the community. This webinar
is hosted by the Grassroots Law Project.
76] – On Fri., July 10 from 3 to 4 PM, hear from Rep. Karen Bass, Prof.
Angela J. Davis, and Prof. Paul Butler, hosted by Jamie Raskin. Look at https://act.myngp.com/Forms/1489068804864740352.

85] – For the
36th year, Baltimore's anti-nuclear weapons community will gather on August 6
and 9. The commemorations will indicate our support for the Black Lives Matter
protests. Signs will state Demilitarize the Police and Denuclearize the
Military.
On Aug. 6 from 5 to 6:30 PM with signs,
banners, ribbons and artwork, we will commemorate the atomic bombing of
Hiroshima. Our location will be at four corners at 33rd and North Charles
Street in Baltimore. This area was selected because of its proximity to
Johns Hopkins University, the #1 nuclear weapons contractor among U.S.
colleges. In fiscal year 2017, JHU received $828 million in weapons
contracts.
On Aug. 9 from 1 to 2:30 PM, we will gather
outside Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Charles St. to support the
United Nations Ban Treaty and spread out on corners up Charles Street as far as
possible towards the Stony Run Meetinghouse, 5116 N. Charles St. Besides
having participants holding signs, banners, ribbons and artwork commemorating
the atomic attack on Nagasaki, there will be a car caravan going from Homewood
to Stony Run and back. Then there will be an anti-nuclear weapons
strategy session outside Homewood.
On Sun., Aug. 9 at 7 PM, there will be a Zoom conference
with Vince Intondi, the author of “African Americans against the Bomb: Nuclear
Weapons, Colonialism, and the Black Freedom Movement.” Besides discussing
the book, we will analyze the film IN OUR HANDS, a documentary about the
largest peace demonstration in U.S. history on June 12, 1982, calling for the
abolition of nuclear weapons. Why did we have such a large
anti-nuclear weapons movement? Can we do it again? Contact Max at

is doing primary care as well as rheumatologic care (focusing on joint problems
and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and sjogren's).

88] – The
Trump Administration is again beating the war drums. Most recently, the
target is Iran. Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war
against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump
Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress
can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums
for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton,
convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike
would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will
not tolerate his abuse of power.
Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound
to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran
or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and
N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local
time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack
occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM,
local time, the following day. Contact

A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of

of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the
balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

“One is called to live nonviolently, even
if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to
turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an
attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the
better" - Daniel Berrigan
