84] – "Railroaders had just about enough. Management issued a second pay cut to most employees, while stock holders received a generous dividend. Some were told to pay their own way home while working down the line, and they brought a reduced paycheck home that could not even purchase the lowly potato for dinner. They had to feed their family on hominy.” Labor Professor and Historian Bill Barry will tell us the whole story via Power Point and reflection, and perhaps a thought or two about how an oppressed people reacted those many years ago during the 1877 Railroad Strike. Luke McCusker is inviting you to this Zoom meeting on Sat., July 18 at 11 AM ET. Register at https://zoom.us/j/98051971056?pwd=V0J1WXVBb2xMcHJtd05abE52cEVndz09.  The Meeting ID is 980 5197 1056, and the Password is 963397.

Continue this fight in collaboration with local organizations to protest the Howard County Police Department, Howard County Department of Corrections, and ICE as they continue to abuse and oppress Black and Brown people in the community. From the Circuit Court, march through Main Street. There will be a car caravan that will also be meeting there.  See https://www.facebook.com/events/4083529028385907/.

Despite being the one of the hemisphere’s smallest nations, with its resources constrained by   continued U.S. policies, Cuba is sharing its medical advances and teams of health care experts and first responders to assist more than two dozen nations across the globe.  In recognition of their profound contributions, many of the island nation’s legendary musicians will be joined by a score of international stars for the two-night event.

91] – For the 36th year, Baltimore's anti-nuclear weapons community will gather on August 6 and 9. The commemorations will indicate our support for the Black Lives Matter protests.  Signs will state Demilitarize the Police and Denuclearize the Military.

On Aug. 6 from 5 to 6:30 PM with signs, banners, ribbons and artwork, we will commemorate the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Our location will be at four corners at 33rd and North Charles Street in Baltimore.  This area was selected because of its proximity to Johns Hopkins University, the #1 nuclear weapons contractor among U.S. colleges. In fiscal year 2017, JHU received $828 million in weapons contracts.

On Aug. 9 from 1 to 2:30 PM, we will gather outside Homewood Friends Meetinghouse, 3107 N. Charles St. to support the United Nations Ban Treaty and spread out on corners up Charles Street as far as possible towards the Stony Run Meetinghouse, 5116 N. Charles St.  Besides having participants holding signs, banners, ribbons and artwork commemorating the atomic attack on Nagasaki, there will be a car caravan going from Homewood to Stony Run and back.  Then there will be an anti-nuclear weapons strategy session outside Homewood.

On Sun., Aug.  9 at 7 PM, there will be a Zoom conference with Vince Intondi, the author of “African Americans against the Bomb: Nuclear Weapons, Colonialism, and the Black Freedom Movement.”  Besides discussing the book, we will analyze the film IN OUR HANDS, a documentary about the largest peace demonstration in U.S. history on June 12, 1982, calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons.   Why did we have such a large anti-nuclear weapons movement?  Can we do it again? Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

92] Yousef Zarbalian [mailto:yzarbali@gmail.com] started his own medical practice in December before the pandemic hit. 94] – The Trump Administration is again beating the war drums.  Most recently, the target is Iran.  Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton, convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will not tolerate his abuse of power.

Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time, the following day. Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

95] -- If you would like to get rid of books, videos, DVDs, records, tarps and table cloths, contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

96] -- Can you use any book shelves? Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

97] -- Join an extraordinary global campaign for the elimination of nuclear weapons: http://www.globalzero.org/sign-declaration. A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons and a majority of the global public agrees.  This is an historic window of opportunity.  With momentum already building in favor of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

98] – A Peace Park Antinuclear Vigil takes place every day in Lafayette Park, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 24 hours a day, since June 3, 1981. Go to http://prop1.org; call 202-682-4282.

Donations can be sent to Max Obuszewski, Baltimore Nonviolence Center, 431 Notre Dame Lane, Apt. 206, Baltimore, MD 21212.  Ph: 410-323-1607; Email: mobuszewski2001 [at] comcast.net. Go to http://baltimorenonviolencecenter.blogspot.com/.

“One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
