34] – Major changes are coming to asylum policy at the U.S. southern border. On Wed., May 10 at noon ET, the American Immigration Council will be holding a webinar to explain what's happening. Immigration Justice Campaign director Alex Miller will be a panelist for End of Title 42: Beyond Border Solutions. Register at https://aila-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_5tEI6WjqQau3QCpDWsGswA#/registration.  After three long years, Title 42 is set to end on May 11, raising significant questions about how asylum seekers arriving at the southern border will be treated. The Biden administration has announced several policies in advance, with more policy changes expected by May 11.

35] – The Project on Government Oversight [reply@pogo.org] on Wed., May 10 from 4 to 5 PM ET will discuss the USA’s largest police force.  Why is the U.S. Customs and Border Protection the least accountable law enforcement agency? Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZwkduCorT4tGtb-mT3Edqtn2fjF0OqlVr9X?emci=d56b1c8b-a8ea-ed11-8e8b-00224832eb73&emdi=16d15dd2-c2ea-ed11-8e8b-00224832eb73&ceid=246313#/registration.  Its jurisdiction is huge: Two-thirds of the U.S. population lives in a CBP enforcement zone. Chances are, you’re reading this email from an enforcement zone right now. Within these enforcement zones, CBP agents are granted extraordinary power: They can engage in everything from racial profiling to warrantless surveillance with impunity. But despite the consequences of its remarkable power — CBP conduct has even led to many wrongful civilian deaths — the agency has rebuffed and thwarted oversight for years. Join The Constitution Project at POGO for a conversation next Wednesday on what you need to know about this out-of-control law enforcement agency.

36] The Indivisible Team is hosting a Truth Brigade: Big Truths on Wed., May 10 at 6:30 PM ET. Learn how to fight disinformation with the Truth Brigade. Yes you CAN persuade your neighbor to think critically!  RSVP at https://indivisible.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZ0pd-igrDkpGdJmaruR6pn9x3ORO4qZ0p8M#/registration. Take a close look at any path to real progress and you’ll find roadblocks, potholes, and broken bridges deliberately planted by the extremist disinformation machine. Today, that disinformation (and misinformation) is ever-more insidious and entrenched, with a recent study showing close to 60% of voters believing at least some extremist disinformation.

37] – Massachusetts Peace Action [info@masspeaceaction.org] is again hosting the JFK Speech: Breaking through Cold War Thinking on Wed., May 10 from 7 to 8 PM ET. MAPA’s JFK Peace Speech Committee will host its monthly showing and discussion of President Kennedy’s critically important address on world peace, given at American University in June 1963. After the film there will be discussion with the audience on the topic:  “What can I do to help this speech be more widely known?”  This event will be repeated at 7 PM ET on June 10. Register at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYqdOmppzMsHNL_Q_cclZoTX5cYZehj8rJQ?emci=cb6b41f0-42d2-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&emdi=e57b4177-c2d4-ed11-8e8b-00224832eb73&ceid=320042#/registration.
