The response was overwhelmingly positive. We realized that Lebanese and those who hold Lebanon deep in their hearts around the world wanted and needed to have more opportunities to engage with one another on the dire situation in the country they love. For this first session, hear from two courageous Members of Parliament - who are now in the sixth week of their protest sit-in in the Parliament building. Daizy will also rejoin our conversation and will show clips of her remarkable film - Enough! Lebanon's Darkest Hour. The film exposes the corruption that is at the core of Lebanon’s crisis.

54] – Get with a Social Housing Organizing Meeting on Thurs., March 9 at 6:30 PM ET, Email at social.housing.wg@gmail.com.  Join the Metro D.C. DSA Social Housing Working Group for its biweekly organizing meeting. Learn about its latest activities, what is planned for the future, and how to get involved.  The Social Housing Working Group seeks to educate Metro DC DSA chapter members and the general public about social housing and to facilitate collective action in support of the passage and implementation of the Green New Deal for Housing Amendment Act.

The legislation proposes to create mixed-income, district-owned housing with market rate units that subsidize a larger number of affordable units. It's a pioneering approach that deepens affordability, invests surplus funds into the creation of more social housing, and locks-in financial sustainability. The bill also includes climate and labor standards and elected tenant boards with oversight over building management. This event is open to both DSA Members and supporters. 55] – People for the American Way [alerts@pfaw.org] hope you can join a call on Thurs,, March 9 at 7 PM ET and learn how we strengthen our democracy!  As voting rights advocates and allies prepare for the reintroduction of the Freedom to Vote Act, join a movement briefing call that will feature People for President Svante Myrick; Congressman John Sarbanes (D-MD), sponsor of the Freedom to Vote Act; voting and civil rights advocates Martin Luther King III and Mrs. Arndrea Waters King, and others. Sign up https://www.mobilize.us/pfaw/event/553015/?utm_source=PFAW. While Republicans and others on the right continue their efforts to undermine our democracy and restrict our right to vote, it’s going to be vital that we continue building – and maintaining – pressure on Congress to pass federal legislation that protects it.

56] – Greenpeace USA [info@greenpeaceusa.org] on Thurs., March 9 at 8 PM ET is hosting a Collective Action Training Series.  Now is the time to protect the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the earth we inhabit. Real change only happens when people get organized. And organizing is something that anyone can learn to do. If you want to dedicate your life to making change, learning to organize in your local area is a great place to start! RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/greenpeace/event/552739/?utm_source=email&emci=4f92b995-4ab9-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&emdi=0f2a6063-b6ba-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&ceid=1705696.  This is the first training, and it’ll be held on Zoom with trainers and volunteers from across the country.  This 6-week training series will teach you some of the fundamental skills you’ll need to organize in your community. And you’ll be putting them to use right away! At the end of the Collective Action Training Series, you and your fellow comrades will plan local events to take place this Earth Day to tell community members and elected leaders that protecting our climate means keeping oil in the ground!
