46] – Supporters of Jessica Reznicek should know that Thurs., Aug. 11 marks the first year, or the 365th day, of Jessica’s incarceration after being labeled a terrorist for protecting the endangered water supply of over 40 million people. After losing an appeal in the 8th circuit court, please use Thursday to spread the word about her case and build popular support as the fight to free Jessica will continue so that this dangerous precedent will be reversed. Take action on Thursday with these two simple steps to help spread the word about her case! Take a selfie or group photo with a sign saying “365 days in prison and counting #freejessicareznicek Water protectors. Not terrorists. Email supportjessicareznicek.com” or “365 days in prison and counting #freejessicareznicek Climate action ≠ terrorism. Email supportjessicareznicek.com.”

48] – Learn How to Pass a Local Resolution in Response to the January 6 Investigation, a Virtual Meeting, hosted by January 6 Hearings on Thursdays from 4 to 5 PM EDT.  Passing local resolutions helps build momentum on a local, state and national level to protect our freedom to vote from ongoing efforts by Trump and MAGA Republicans to sabotage our elections.

The bipartisan January 6th Select Committee has shown that Trump and his MAGA allies planned, promoted, and paid for a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election they knew they’d lost. Trump and his MAGA allies continue to work to sabotage future elections by changing state laws, threatening state officials and packing election administration offices so that they can have the final say over election results – even when they lose. Sign up for the Aug. 4 webinar at https://www.mobilize.us/pfaw/event/482504/?followup_modal_context=newsletter.

49] – There is an All in PA Statewide Virtual Phone Banks. Help increase voter turnout in districts where it matters most. Research shows that conversations with voters at their doors or on the phone can win close elections. Whether you're new to volunteering or just want to brush up on your skills, Zoom in.

57] – Presente.org [info@presente.org] wants us to know on Thurs., Aug. 11 at 7 PM ET that you can watch a documentary “The Facility.”  Immigrants have the fundamental human right to be treated with dignity and respect. There are, however, 23,000 immigrants inside an immigration detention facility at this very moment.1 Immigration detention is a direct violation of the human right to freedom, which is why the group launched the #FreedomForAll campaign earlier this year. Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/7116601017571/WN_OPC5fPVOTMKURwsdn3do7A.  The film was directed by Seth Freed Wessler of Field of Vision.

This short documentary tracks the lives of several immigrants inside the infamous Irwin Detention Center in Ocilla, Georgia amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. After numerous reports of abuse and medical neglect, the Irwin Detention Center closed in 2021 while under federal investigation. A whistleblower also came forward exposing rampant medical misconduct against immigrant women. The film captures how immigrants organize from within the Irwin Detention Center to advocate for transparency, freedom, and ultimately for their release. Using real-time footage, this film catches their fight against the systems that work to silence them. This event will be held in Spanish with English interpretation on Zoom.

58] – Power Concedes Nothing: Lessons for Massachusetts will happen on Thurs., Aug. 11 from 7 to 8 PM ET. How are Massachusetts organizers executing grassroots organizing strategies to win elections?   There was a report on experiences from other states’ work in the 2020 election at the Power Concedes Nothing presentation on July 14.  Those interested in progressive electoral organizing in Massachusetts will come together to continue this discussion.  Massachusetts Progressive Action Organizing Committee will lead a conversation.  Power Concedes Nothing, a new collection edited by Linda Burnham, Max Elbaum, and Maria Poblet, tells the stories behind a victory that won both the White House and the Senate and powered progressive candidates to new levels of influence. It describes the on-the-ground efforts that mobilized a record-breaking turnout by registering new voters and motivating an electorate both old and new. In doing so it charts a viable path to victory for the vital contests upcoming in 2022 and 2024.  Register to attend at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZItdu-trjgtH9yiy1z6bXRa--xLByxG_gxd.

To be continued.
