Peace Group Will Protest President Joe Biden

WHO:   Peace Action is the nation’s largest grassroots peace network with chapters and affiliates in states across the country. It organizes its network to place pressure on Congress and the administration through write-in campaigns, internet actions, grassroots lobbying and direct action. Maryland Peace Action is part of that network, and Baltimore Peace Action is a chapter of the State organization.

Baltimore Peace Action holds these beliefs. War is not a suitable response to conflict.  Every person has the right to live without the threat from nuclear weapons. The United States government must change its priorities which favor the elite, and provide sufficient resources to end the extreme income inequality prevalent in our society. For example, Baltimore Peace Action recently organized demonstrations at Northrop Grumman and at the National Security Agency.

WHAT: Members of Baltimore Peace Action protested the Bush/Cheney invasion of Afghanistan, and predicted that the only victors of this imperial misadventure would be weapons contractors.  President Biden did the right thing to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan. However, the Biden administration has made so many awful decisions against the beliefs of Baltimore Peace Action.

It was decided that these policies must be challenged:  the use of killer drones, the refusal to re-join the Iran deal, his increase in the military and the nuclear arsenal budgets, his deportation of Haitians, his refusal to allow asylum seekers the opportunity to come to the US, his failure to recognize that the Pentagon is committing ecocide, his mindless pursuit of a new Cold War with China and Russia, his refusal to close Gitmo and other disappointing actions taken by the Biden administration. So Baltimore Peace Action organized a demonstration.

WHEN: Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 7 to 9:30 PM

WHERE: Calvert and Monuments Streets, near to Center Stage in Baltimore

WHY: We are pleased that President Biden withdrew U.S. troops from Afghanistan, but his administration requested a military budget and a nuclear weapons budget larger than Trump’s.  Unless this changes, there will be a continual search for enemies and other countries invaded.

We are sure that peace and justice issues will be ignored during the CNN Town Hall.  CNN carefully selected who can attend and will screen the questions.  This item should be discussed at the Town Hall: Wasting tax dollars on war-mongering means that desperately needed social services in places like Baltimore will be shortchanged.  It is unconscionable that tax dollars are misspent on weapons of war rather than human needs.
