The book features stories of many CFP co-founders and activists, as well as a glimpse into various moments in our movement's history -- from our founding to our Freedom Marches. 51] –Why people engage in war and other atrocities will be discussed on Thurs., May 27 from 7 to 8:30 PM ET.  See http://masspeaceaction.org/venue/online-event/?emci=44d55c21-1bac-eb11-85aa-0050f237abef&emdi=ecb03088-1fac-eb11-85aa-0050f237abef&ceid=269591. The field of peace psychology has given considerable attention to the dynamics of moral and immoral thinking as expressed in peaceful or violent behavior. Waging war violates the most universal moral code ever evolved by human beings—the Golden Rule. Yet ruthlessly, through the centuries, humans have been persuaded to commit atrocities such as warfare while viewing themselves as moral beings. How do they do that? One answer is moral disengagement—ways of thinking that allow people to believe it is moral to promote war against others who are portrayed as less than human, a threat to future peace, troublemakers, etc. Unscrupulous leaders have known for centuries how to feed into those self-deceptions to justify violently taking the lands and resources of other people. However, throughout the centuries there have also been people who have fought violent tactics, people who are morally engaged on behalf of peace. Register at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYkcemspj4rGtLVOHJcsnVT6xozBt4AhxQf.  In the webinar, psychologist Kathie Malley-Morrison will provide brief examples of both moral disengagement and engagement offered in posts in the Engaging Peace archive. She has published many books and articles both on family violence around the globe and on the views of ordinary people from around the globe on the issues of war and peace.  She will be followed by Joe Kandra, the cartoonist for Engaging Peace, who has already begun creating cartoons for MAPA. He will provide examples from the Engaging Peace archives of the ways in which political cartoons can be used to educate for peace and social justice.

53] – Alan Minsky for Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] wants you to Sign Up for PDA's Town Hall with Dennis Kucinich on Thurs., May 27 at 8 PM ET.  Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) was launched in 2004, an outgrowth of Congressperson Dennis Kucinich's run for president as a progressive peace candidate.  Now, Dennis has a brand new book, receiving spectacular advance reviews, about his time as mayor of Cleveland in the 1970s. It's called The Division of Light and Power.  "The Division of Light and Power is the thoroughly documented, true story of one courageous American mayor who fought, and beat, a utility monopoly in an epic battle which involved corporate espionage and sabotage, bank co-conspirators, extortion, political corruption, organized crime, mob-directed assassination attempts, congressional investigations, and media cover-ups."—Finney Avenue Books

In retrospect, Dennis was fighting against the rising forces of neoliberalism in the 1970s. So this book has essential lessons for today, as we try to build a better economic system for America and the world. Sign up at https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMlc-yurjspHNMDqndL5vNovtcz6bVGF3gS.
