] – From Wed., May 19 through Fri., May 21, Beyond Extreme Energy is organizing three days of urgent outreach to members of Congress in a #BuildBackRenewableNow action. BXE has core demands of Congress that they push out false solutions to climate change within Biden's $2 trillion infrastructure plan, and that they enact a “renewables first” national energy policy which prioritizes environmental justice; and mandate that the nation’s federal energy regulatory agency must operate with this policy, including an end to eminent domain for any new fossil fuel projects. On the 19th, blitz Congress with emails and phone calls. On the 20th, pressure FERC directly during their monthly meeting. And on the 21st, tweet up a storm and use social media to make sure they get the message. Each day of action, there will be an online gathering to prep and consolidate the efforts. Watch on Facebook at https://fb.me/e/1trDNJhOU. Register at https://forms.gle/ugxnNvFXkx3KJgxR7.

] –The Nation [emails@emails.thenation.com] is asking What does it mean to be Anti-Imperialist in the 21st century? Is internationalism—once the standard for the global left—still a viable idea in today’s multi-polar world? And, if so, how can it best be achieved? What would a progressive US foreign policy even look like? Is intervention by the US ever justified–and if so, under what conditions? Join the debate on Wed., May 19 at noon ET: https://link.thenation.com/click/23846325.76486/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cudGhlbmF0aW9uLmNvbS9ldmVudHMvYW50aS1pbXBlcmlhbGlzbS0yMXN0LWNlbnR1cnktZm9ydW0vP3V0bV9tZWRpdW09ZW1haWwmdXRtX3NvdXJjZT1TYWlsdGhydSZ1dG1fY2FtcGFpZ249bmF0aW9uLWV2ZW50cy1hbnRpaW1wZXJpYWxpc20mc291cmNlaWQ9MTA2NjE5OCZtcz1FTU0wNTEwMjAyMTFBJnV0bV9jb250ZW50PUVNTTA1MTAyMDIxMUE/5a1c932e3f92a42c66a469e4E48421fca.  Hear from Gilbert Achcar, Nadje Al-Ali, Phyllis Bennis, Bill Fletcher, Jr., D.D. Guttenplan and the event’s host, Katrina vanden Heuvel. This group of deeply-informed experts on US foreign-policy, the Middle East and the global left will discuss and debate fundamental questions of global equity, self-determination, international human rights and empire. As at all Nation Conversations, there will be ample time devoted to audience questions and conversation. Tickets are $10, and all proceeds go directly to supporting The Nation’s journalism.  Email events@thenation.com.

] – From Flight to Safety: The Refugee Resettlement Journey will be examined on Wed., May 19 at noon ET. The U.S. Refugee Admissions Program is a lifeline to people around the world whose lives are in danger because of who they are, where they are from, or what they believe. But less than 1% of refugees have access to resettlement, and the process is complex and arduous, sometimes requiring years of waiting in dangerous conditions. Once refugees arrive in the U.S., a new and challenging journey of integration and acceptance begins.  Hear from experts working on the front lines in Kenya and the U.S to resettle refugees, and from refugees themselves, about what it’s like to navigate this complex process. Merrill Zack, HIAS [info@hias.org] reminds you that you should sign up at https://www.hias.org/events/flight-safety-refugee-resettlement-journey?utm_medium=email&utm_source=hias.org&utm_campaign=events&utm_content=Youre+Invited+Resettlement+Journeys+and+more+at+HIAS+Events.

] – CODEPINK [info@codepink.org] wants you to join the group and allies for actions against BlackRock!  ‌ ‌BlackRock is the world’s largest asset manager, controlling trillions in assets globally. BlackRock released a statement indicating that it would like companies to implement and disclose their human rights processes to identify, manage, and prevent adverse human rights impacts. But yet BlackRock is one of the largest shareholders of Tasers manufacturer Axon enterprise and has billions invested in Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon. Weapons made by these companies are used in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and other places worldwide where the US continues to be involved in active conflicts. As you can see, even though BlackRock said it would like companies to implement human rights processes, they continue to profit from war. BlackRock even has an iShares fund that exclusively benefits from weapons of war.

CODEPINK will join this year’s BlackRock People’s Assembly on Wed., May 19 at 4 PM ET. It will be an inspiring 90-minute global event kicking off a week of actions leading up to BlackRock’s annual meeting. Rep. Rashida Tlaib will be joining the People’s Assembly as a featured speaker.
