Now that our society faces an uncertain future and economic downturn, how can we continue to push for divestment from the war machine? Organizing for Divestment in the time of Coronavirus will explore how to respond to common arguments about divestment and profitability and how the campaign can benefit from incorporating a divest/invest framework. Hear from CODEPINK’s Co-Director Jodie Evans, who will discuss how we can utilize this moment to organize local peace economies, and Roberta Giodarno, the finance campaigner from the Sunrise Movement. 23] – On Mon., May 4 from 7 to 8 PM, make it over to Politics and Prose Bookstore Live with Jung Pak. This event will be streamed online as part of the P&P Live! Series. Building from her groundbreaking 2018 Brookings essay, "The Education of Kim Jong Un," Pak offers the most detailed and thorough portrait of the North Korean leader to date. A former CIA analyst who advised top military and government officials, including the Obama White House, Pak draws on her experience and access to classified documents to trace the rise of an enigmatic and surprising leader. Initially written off as unlikely to last, Kim instead has consolidated his power at home through a series of brutal purges while commanding ever more attention on the world stage for his nuclear ambitions. Arguing that he’s still underestimated in the West, Pak illuminates much about Kim’s personality and motivations.

You are asked to contribute what you can to support Politics and Prose Bookstore and the virtual event series. The other way you can support is always by purchasing a copy of the book from the website.  Go to https://www.crowdcast.io/e/jung-pak/register or https://www.facebook.com/events/268085254358724/.
