The exhibition will continue through Summer 2020. Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute & UN Messenger of Peace, braved the unknown to give the world a remarkable window into humankind’s closest living relatives: chimpanzees. In this hands-on, transportive multimedia exhibition celebrating her extraordinary life and work, you’ll explore Dr. Goodall’s early years through iconic images and a multiscreen experience and venture on a 3D exploration of Tanzania’s Gombe Stream National Park where she did her famous behavioral research on chimps. You’ll also see a life-size hologram of Dr. Goodall, enter a replica of her research tent, and learn about her current role as a leader in community-centered conservation and youth empowerment. Before you leave, you will find out what you can do today to make a positive impact in the world.

The museum is open 7 days a week from 10 AM to 6 PM (last ticket sold at 5 PM daily.) Groups of 20 or more receive discounted museum admission. Contact groupsales@ngs.org to book your group visit today. Go to https://www.facebook.com/events/977953615906486/.

5] - Usually, the Baltimore Ethical Society, 2521 St. Paul St., Baltimore 21218, meets on Sundays, and generally there is a speaker and discussion at 10:30 AM.  On Sun., Mar. 1, the theme is “The Ethics of the Overwhelmed (Trump makes me tired, how about you?)” It is hard to care about government ethics these days. Which news stories should we care about and which ones are simply designed to get us all riled up? Is democracy over? Is it too late to care? Does it even matter if I do care? Maybe I should focus on my mental health instead. Cheryl Embree is not a licensed mental health care provider. Her talk, though, is about working as an ethics attorney at four different government agencies- HUD, FTC, USDA, & HHS. She will include hopeful ideas for future government reforms. Embree graduated from law school in 2007 and moved to Washington, D.C. with big hopes and dreams and a car full of all her earthly possessions. She began working as a government ethics attorney during the final months of the George W. Bush administration. Call 410-581-2322 or email ask@bmorethical.org

11] –  The Moment Was Now is a  historical musical taking place at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 818 Cathedral St., Baltimore.  There are four shows – Sun., Mar. 1 at 1:30 PM, Fri., Mar. 6 at 8 PM, Sat., Mar. 7 at 8 PM and Sun., Mar. 8 at 3:30 PM.  The show is set in post-Civil War Baltimore in 1869; a year before African-American males were given the right to vote. Playwright and retired labor organizer Gene Bruskin says, “The play reveals the impassioned search for unity” by now-legendary Americans committed to equality, including Anthony, the black feminist Frances Harper, the immortal Frederick Douglass, and his partner in the black labor movement, Isaac Meyers. The question of who should receive equality under the law—and more vexingly, when—creates the conflict (argued in full-throated song) at a meeting convened by Douglass.

In perhaps her most powerful line in the play, Anthony tells Frances Harper: “I will cut my right arm off to stop the Negro male from getting the ballot” before women. They did and she did not, and the struggle continued until women got the vote in 1920, roughly a decade- and-a-half after Anthony’s death. Conceived and Created by Gene Bruskin In collaboration with Daryl! LC Moch, Director, Glenn Pearson, Musical Director, and Chester Burke, Jr., Assistant Musical Director. 17] – On Sun., Mar. 1 from 6 to 9 PM, hear from Eitan Hersh discussing his book “Politics is for Power,” hosted by Solid State Books, 600 H Street NE, WDC 20002.  Who is to blame for our broken politics? The uncomfortable answer to this question starts with ordinary citizens with good intentions. We vote (sometimes) and occasionally sign a petition or attend a rally. But we mainly “engage” by consuming politics as if it’s a sport or a hobby. We soak in daily political gossip and eat up statistics about who’s up and who’s down. We tweet and post and share. We crave outrage. The hours we spend on politics are used mainly as pastime.  Go to https://www.facebook.com/events/3380981101974859/.

18] – There is a weekly Pentagon Peace Vigil from 7 to 8 AM on Mondays, since 1987, outside the Pentagon Metro stop.  The next vigil is Mar. 2, and it is sponsored by the Dorothy Day Catholic Worker.  Email artlaffin@hotmail.com or call 202-882-9649.  The vigil will be outside the Pentagon's south Metro entrance and in the designated "protest zone" behind bicycle fences across from the entrance to the Metro.  By Metro, take Yellow Line and get out at the "Pentagon" stop. Do not go to the Pentagon City stop! Go up south escalators and turn left and walk across to protest area. By car from D.C. area, take 395 South and get off at Exit 8A-Pentagon South Parking. Take slight right onto S. Rotary Rd. at end of ramp and right on S. Fern St. Then take left onto Army Navy Dr. You can "pay to park" on Army Navy Dr.,  and there is meter parking one block on right on Eads St. Payment for both of these spots begin at 8 AM.  No cameras are allowed on Pentagon grounds. Restrooms are located inside Marriott Residence Inn on corner of S. Fern and Army Navy Dr.

19] – On Mon., Mar. 2 from 1 to  3 PM, join a rally Dissent is a Patriotic Protest: Support Sotomayor and Ginsburg, hosted by Demand Justice at the Supreme Court, 1 1st St. NE, WDC 20002.  Donald Trump is attacking Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- Tweeting out attacks on their credibility and saying they shouldn't be able to rule on issues he's involved in. Trump's angry because he thinks the Supreme Court should work for him, not the people, but Justices Sotomayor and Ginsburg have stood up to his abuse of power and warned about the Court's startling pro-Trump bias.  This year, the Supreme Court will decide the future of everything from DACA to the Atlantic pipeline, from gun violence prevention to the future of the CFPB. Check out https://www.facebook.com/events/286012595709918/.

20] – On Mon., Mar. 2 from 2 to 5 PM, come to a House Rules Committee Hearing, hosted by Get Money Out - Maryland, Inc. at 90 State Circle, Annapolis 21401-1914.  The hearing is in the Joint Hearing Room on the first floor of the Department of Legislative Services Building. The House of Delegates' Rules and Executive Nominations Committee will hear testimony on legislation including HJ10, the Democracy Amendment Resolution. See https://www.facebook.com/events/130495761590679/.
