As the justices hand down their final decisions this summer, join in to take power back from the Court so that it works for US and not their billionaire backers! Since former President Trump appointed three justices to the Supreme Court, the extreme right supermajority has overturned women’s rights, weakened voter access, blocked student loan relief and made it harder to stop gun violence. It’s time for us to leverage our collective voice to demand Congress fight for our freedoms by fixing the Court and leverage the collective power of our vote to uphold our democracy in November.  RSVP at https://secure.everyaction.com/AuA0ODgei0Wo-b4J0QNmtg2?sourceid=1094945

61] The Abolition Action Committee is holding a four day vigil maintaining presence at U.S. Supreme Court in Washington DC. Many of participants fast during this time, but fasting is not required. Tens-of-thousands of visitors come to the Court, and it is an opportunity to share the message that no matter how you slice it, the death penalty is BAD PUBLIC POLICY. Much of the time is spent talking to individuals and creating visibility. Several larger events are held at key times during the event to highlight specific concerns, with a series of speakers each evening to educate, enlighten and entertain.

On Fri., June 28 from 9 PM to 11:30 PM, join the "Last Supper" together at the Methodist Building, 100 Maryland Ave. before fasting starts. This is a catered dinner with non-alcoholic drinks provided. Email scott@abolition.org with your RSVP and number of additional guests. Donations of $10 to help cover the meal cost are welcome, but not required. Side dishes and appetizers are welcome, but not necessary. Alcohol is NOT permitted on the premises. Afterwards participants will move to the Supreme Court.

The vigil runs daily from Sat., June 29 through Tues., July 2, approximately 8:30 AM until 8 PM. Fasting starts at 12:01 AM on June 29 and the group breaks the fast at midnight on July 2. Participants are invited to sleep out in front of the court on the night of July 1. It’s perfectly legal and safe - and quite an experience to be had. To attend the full event, plan to arrive on June 28 by 9:30 PM, and depart anytime on July 3. View the full schedule at https://abolition.org/schedule/

While the vigil is directly in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, there is access at the United Methodist Church on Maryland Ave., next door to the Court.  One can have access to air conditioned resting/work space as well as restrooms available 24/7. Visit https://abolition.org/about/
