More Information

Operating under the bizarre theory that more unhealthy air will magically create jobs, Sen. Paul wants to block a life-saving clean air standard that protects people from out-of-state polluters -- the EPA's Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR).

This from a man who has said the EPA "has done more harm than good," and that President Obama was "forcing the EPA down our throats."

CSAPR will cut pollution from coal-fired power plants, save up to 34,000 lives, prevent 400,000 asthma attacks, and avoid 1.8 million lost work and school days due to respiratory illnesses every year.

But, Sen. Paul's bill, S.J. Res 27, would throw out CSAPR and would permanently bar the EPA from ever issuing a substantially similar rule.

Sen. Paul is corralling support in the Senate right now. And he is planning to force a vote on his resolution under rarely used procedure that bypasses normal Senate rules and fast tracks action in the Senate.

That's why your Senators need to hear from you today -- please take action and tell your Senators to oppose this outrageous assault on clean air.

Even the most ardent anti-government members of Congress should understand the validity of this important rule. The whole point of CSAPR is to stop big polluting states from dumping their air pollution into neighboring states. Without a national standard, citizens of downwind states are at the mercy of upwind polluting states.

But this important life-saving standard is precisely what Rand Paul's bill will undo.

This is a truly dreadful bill and it must be stopped.

Please take action today. Urge your Senators to reject the Rand Paul Dirty Air Assault.
