29] – Grassroots Action Team (via Common Cause) [causenet@commoncause.org] on Tues., June 23 from 6 to 8 PM wants you to join a weekly phone bank to help move pro-democracy bills forward or push back on harmful legislations moving through State Houses and US Congress. Each phone bank focuses on the most urgent campaign fights happening right now. Every week, volunteers from coast to coast come together to get the latest updates, receive training, and make calls as a team.  31] – On Tues., June 23 join Veterans for Peace, Code Pink, Maryland Peace Action & other partners for a showing of "Earth's Greatest Enemy"  which investigates the environmental impact of the U.S. military, highlighting its role as a major contributor to global pollution and climate change, often operating with minimal accountability and exempt from international climate agreements.   This film is the second feature documentary by investigative journalist and filmmaker Abby Martin, co-directed with her husband Mike Prysner.  The DC film showing will be at the Palestine House of Freedom (Dar al Hurriya), located at 650 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Suite 50 (lower level), WDC.  Use the Eastern Market Metro station (blue/orange line).   Doors open at 6 PM, film starts at 6:30 PM.  Filmmaker Abby Martin will provide remarks after the film (by zoom).  No charge but donations accepted; and refreshments provided.

  The VFP will show "Earth's Greatest Enemy" on Sat,, June 27 at Baltimore Homewood Friends Meeting (3107 N. Charles Street).  Doors open at 6 PM, and the film starts at 6:30 PM.  The film showings are part of the "No MAS" (No Military Air Shows) tour by VFP members. Other events in the tour include protesting outside Sail250 Air Show in Baltimore on June 27-28.   Members will gather at Harborplace, during the day, to hand out leaflets opposing the air shows. 32] –  On Tuesdays, including June 23, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM ET, join Fight Back with Friends, a Monthly Call to Action, for a virtual training, hosted by Indivisible. The next event will happen July 28. Sign up at indivisi.org/empower

33] -- Pax Christi Metro DC-Baltimore [info@paxchristimdcb.org] on Wed., June 24 from 8:30 to 9 AM is holding a prayer service outside ICE headquarters, 500 12th ST. SW, WDC.  The closest Metro is L’Enfant Plaza [Exit C, 9th St.] or Smithsonian [SW corner, 12th St. at Independence Ave.] All are invited to a prayer service in support of our immigrant brothers and sisters, especially for Haitians who are facing the revocation of their Temporary Protective Status. Also commemorate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on what would have been his 97th birthday.  This is what Pax Christi shared: "As Catholics and people of deep faith, we reject the culture of fear and silence that dehumanizes, and we choose instead to stand with migrants. We defend the innate human dignity of our neighbors, family members, fellow parishioners, classmates, coworkers, and friends."

34] – Join the Sign Wave with Northeast Neighbors (Lauraville) on Wed., June 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at Harford Road & Parkside Drive, Baltimore 21214. The Wednesday Movement launched on March 12, 2025 when disgruntled seniors took to the streets at 40th Street and Roland Avenue in Baltimore to make their pro-democracy, anti-Trump, anti-Putin views known. Note this event will be held in a drizzle but maybe not in a downpour and definitely not with thunder/lightning in the forecast.
