The Wednesday Movement launched on March 12, 2025 when disgruntled seniors took to the streets at 40th Street and Roland Avenue in Baltimore to make their pro-democracy, anti-Trump, anti-Putin views known. The sign wave in Lauraville will continue each Wednesday through April 29, and it is held definitely in a drizzle but maybe not in a downpour and definitely not with thunder/lightning in the forecast. Contact Anne George, 443-831-7528, for more information on initiating a sign wave in your area. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/baltimoresignwaves/event/784682/

39] –On Wed., March 25 at 6 PM, join a Hype rally with Rep. Rashida Tlaib and MDC DSA endorsed candidates--Janeese Lewis George, Aparna Raj, and Imara Crooms for a community hype event as MDC DSA’s electoral machine ramps up for the spring election season. The chapter invites socialists, progressives and workers to come hear from endorsed electoral candidates about their campaigns, involvement, and community among those ready to fight for a better world. Tlaib is an unbossed and unbought Congresswoman and, in her own words, “a mother working for justice for all.” A member of Metro Detroit DSA, she represents Michigan’s 12th Congressional District. Janeese Lewis George, the current DC Ward 4 Councilmember and proud longtime MDC DSA member who's used her position on the Council to fight for tenant protections, labor rights, and a green new deal, is running for DC Mayor. Aparna Raj, a former MDC DSA Chair and seasoned Stomp out Slumlords tenant organizer, is running for DC Council in Ward 1. Imara Crooms, a past member of the MDC DSA Steering Committee, is running for PG County Council in District 9.  RSVP for the hype rally here. https://actionnetwork.org/events/hype-rally-with-rep-rashida-tlaib-and-mdc-dsa-electoral-candidates?link_id=3&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-13-2026&email_referrer=email_3153741&email_subject=metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-20-2026&&

40] –On Wed., March 25 from 7 to 8:30 PM ET, join the Ellsberg Initiative for Peace and Democracy and Freedom of the Press Foundation for an online event discussing the Trump administration's escalating attacks against free speech and the freedom of the press. Expert panelists will discuss long-standing threats, like the arcane Espionage Act and the absence of a federal shield law for journalists. The panel will also address new concerns, including the Trump administration's increasingly aggressive efforts to prevent citizens from filming immigration agents and a blatantly partisan FCC. Most importantly, there will be talk about how to most effectively challenge these threats and fortify the First Amendment. 41] – Make Calls for Salt River Project Climate Champs with Jane Fonda on Wed., March 25 from 7 to 9 PM ET. Make calls for clean energy champions running for Arizona’s Salt River Project (SRP) Board, which governs one of the country’s largest publicly-owned utilities! Turning Point USA is pouring in money to take over the Board with pro-fossil fuel MAGA candidates that want to roll back climate progress. Turnout is historically super low for these races because most homeowners don't realize that they can vote, making outreach critical. Sign up to call eligible voters. You’ll get some background on the candidates and what’s at stake in the race, you will be able to review the phone banking script, and then walk through how to use the calling platform. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/908652/

42] –On Wed., March 25 from 8 to 9 PM, participate in a virtual PGCDSA Abolition Working Group Meeting.  RSVP at https://actionnetwork.org/events/pgcdsa-abolition-working-group-meeting-3252026?link_id=76&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-13-2026&email_referrer=email_3153741&email_subject=metro-dc-dsa-weekly-newsletter-for-march-20-2026&&

A virtual link will be communicated before the event.  Email pgdsa@mdcdsa.org. During this meeting, get court watch training and discuss volunteer opportunities.

43] –  On Wednesdays, March 25, April 22 or May 27, at 9 PM ET, join a Progressive Democrats of America Disabilities Issue Organizing Team call. Discuss how we fight back as we stand up for the Disabilities Community and benefits that most of us will need before we pass. Special focus will be on legislative and electoral campaigns that we can all get involved with to bring about real change. RSVP at https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMpdumvqDwoGNx6xKMg-liSlwcpK1dJ0jzb?emci=60cf6a5a-3311-f111-a69a-000d3a57593f&emdi=177b4617-9111-f111-a69a-000d3a57593f&ceid=2907617#/registration
