Any donation is appreciated. More or less you will receive the book.  Barry and the team have spent over two years putting this book together. It begins with outlines and notes found in the boxes of materials Murphy left when she ascended. The work is a work of love, and all involved are proud of the fruit borne by seeds nourished in good soil.

To order by postal mail, make your check to Open Door Community.  Send it to Open Door Community, PO Box 10980, Baltimore 21234.  For any questions, contact David Payne at 404-290-2047 or davidpayne@opendoorcommunity.org.

5] – Another book to consider purchasing is Male Supremacy in the Catholic Church: An Insider’s View by Roy Bourgeois. His new book is both memoir and position-paper, and it makes the case that the Roman Catholic Church is a corrupt system that spits out truth-tellers. The crime he was excommunicated for was attending the ordination ceremony of Janice Sevre-Duszynska in Lexington, Kentucky, in August 2008. The ordination was under the auspices of the Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests.  The Vatican’s response has been to excommunicate any woman who has the audacity to see herself as a priest equal to a male priest. You can purchase a copy from Amazon or by Kindle.

Here are two quotes to contemplate: “I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men. She is to keep silent.” – Timothy 1, 2:12-13.  “If the patriarchy that dominates the church is not dismantled and women are not treated as equals, the church will continue to diminish and, eventually, die.” – Roy Bourgeois.

The August All-Societies Platform is a collaboration with the New York Society for Ethical Culture.  This Labor Day, the outlook for organized labor power in America is grim. Already, the Trump administration has decimated the federal work force, torn up union contracts, broken our system of labor law enforcement, and pushed us down the road to fascism and oligarchy. Despite all that, however, one fundamental, structural truth has not changed: Labor power is still one of the only things that can pull us back from this precipice. What would that look like? Let’s talk about it.  Nolan is an author and journalist who writes about labor, politics, and class war.

12] – Alan Minsky for Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] hopes you will attend on Sun., Aug. 31 at 4 PM ET the weekly Town Hall.  Get a report back from the DNC meeting held in Minneapolis this past week. A number of new progressive-supported Party rules and bylaws were passed there, along with some excellent progressive resolutions, including one that calls for the elimination of dark money from all Party caucuses and primaries, including the race for the Democratic Presidential nominee. There were two competing resolutions on Gaza. PDA supported Resolution 18, which resembled Rep. Delia Ramirez's excellent Block the Bombs Act, and was introduced by Florida DNC member Allison Minnerly. In spite of our best efforts, Resolution 18 was voted down in committee, where an alternative resolution, much more sympathetic to Israel, was passed.

However, DNC Chair Ken Martin intervened at this point and withdrew both resolutions and, in coordination with Allison Minnerly (among others), announced the formation of a special commission to study how the Party should respond to the war on Gaza. Many activists and pro-Palestinians advocates were understandably frustrated at what they saw as more deflection by the DNC and denial by its members. Still, Chairman Martin's action when he pulled the pro-Israeli resolution that had been supported by the committee was the opposite of what the pro-Israel lobby groups wanted. Indeed, this was far from what we wanted too, but at the same time it was a major setback for AIPAC.

PDA will renew its bonds of support and vow of solidarity with the American and International Labor Movement. Then, the will be a discussion how PDA can best work in coordination with organized labor and the Democratic Party to defend and strengthen our constitutional republic, rebuild a prosperous middle-class society, and vanquish Trumpism.
