This in-person organizing space started on April 20 and provides support for displaced workers and demonstrate mutual aid, as well as provide political education and organizing for collective action. We'll offer daily programming from large event tents, launch collective actions, host art and cultural events, and build the networks that our movements need to challenge the actions of the Trump/Musk administration. Programming will include supportive services for fired federal workers and other community members, trainings, political education, performances, and more. For the daily schedule go to https://www.solidaritycity.org/schedule-1. Visit  https://www.solidaritycity.org/

23] – The With Us for Us Coalition [loraine.arikat@1199.org] is calling for a hybrid Testimony Workshop and Art Build on Mon., May 5 at 5:30 PM ET by Zoom or at 1199 SEIU Office, 611 N Eutaw St., Baltimore 21201. Prepare for an upcoming Baltimore City Council hearing on the Fair Share PILOT Task Force bill! 24] –  On Mon., May 5 from 6 to 8 PM ET at Samuel Gompers Memorial Park, Massachusetts Avenue & 11th St. NW, WDC, join a Hands Off Social Security. Seniors, unions, advocates, and lawmakers will hold a rally calling on the Senate to vote no on the nomination of billionaire Frank Bisignano for commissioner of the Social Security Administration. Bisignano describes himself as a “DOGE person.” He lied to the Senate Finance Committee about his involvement with the destructive changes that Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency is making to Social Security. A vote to confirm Frank Bisignano is a vote to destroy Social Security. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/afscme/event/784776/

25] – Ken Jones [info+war-industry-resisters-network-info@email.actionnetwork.org] wants you to know that on Mon., May 5 at 8 PM ET there will be a War Industry Resisters Network webinar – War Intellectuals, Democracy and Hans Speier.  Register at https://masspeace.us/WarIntellectualsWIRN/

This webinar will be an interview with Professor Daniel Bessner, author of the book Democracy in Exile: Hans Speier and the Rise of the Defense Intellectual. Who was Hans Speier anyway, and why is he important? Who determines U.S. foreign policy? Is there much democratic input? We cover the role of expertise in crafting U.S. foreign policy, and what today’s warfare state looks like. We will explore what a humane foreign policy might consist of (and more!) in this timely webinar.

26] – On Tues., May 6 there is a Lobby Day and Press Conference with Christians for Ceasefire and Just Peace, responding to the American Christian Leaders for Israel who will be lobbying Congress that same day. Around 200 members of the American Christian Leaders for Israel will be calling on our government to continue its unconditional support of Israeli government policies, particularly the trajectory to annex the West Bank and Gaza from the Palestinian people, including Palestinian Christians. In response, Christians 4 Ceasefire and Just Peace will be staging its own lobbying event, presenting a Christian witness that challenges such de-humanizing and unjust plans of annexation, as well as the corresponding ethnic cleansing taking place in Gaza. The lobbying day will conclude with a press conference.

There is a training session from 10:45 to 11:30 AM in the Rayburn House Building, 45 Independence Ave. SW, Cafeteria.  The lobbying will occur from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM, followed by lunch: 2:30 3:15 PM with the press conference from 3:30 to 4 PM.  The location is TBA. 27] – ACLU People Power [peoplepower@aclu.org] on Tues., May 6 at 12:30 PM ET wants you to be on Capitol Hill at the House Triangle, outside the Capitol, corner of Southeast New Jersey Ave., SE- look for ACLU signs! ACLU supporters from across the region are gathering in D.C. to defend lifesaving public safety programs — and they need you there. President Trump’s proposed budget would gut funding for services that keep our communities safe — from domestic violence prevention to mental health and substance use programs. These cuts would leave millions of people more vulnerable to violence, crisis, and instability. Don't forget to join the ACLU for Safety Week on Capitol Hill to demand that Congress protect lifesaving public safety programs — not slash them. 22] – On Tuesdays, from 4 to 6 PM ET, gather with Indivisible at 9706 Gorman Road, Howard County 20723 for a Rush Hour protest at the I95 Gorman Road Overpass. Silence Gives Consent Continued. Join a protest on May 6, and RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/772050/

28] – Join the Baltimore Nonviolence Center on Tues., May 6 from 4:30 to 5 PM ET at 33rd and N. Charles Sts. to condemn the invasion of Ukraine and the Trump/Vance team which supports Putin’s war crimes. Putin has destroyed Aleppo and Grozny and has threatened the use of nuclear weapons.  And he knows that Trump appreciates how he got Trump elected in 2016. Rather than support Ukraine, Trump hoped to steal Ukraine’s rare earth minerals.  Let us hope that the European Union will provide further support for the Ukrainian people.
