38] – Maria DeLiberato [info@fadp.org] is very upset as the executions in the USA continue.   She wants you to know about International Wrongful Conviction Day which is aimed to raise awareness of the causes and remedies of wrongful conviction and to recognize the tremendous personal, social, and emotional costs of wrongful conviction for innocent people and their families. Wrongful Conviction Day began as an effort of the Innocence Network, an affiliation of organizations dedicated to providing pro-bono legal and investigative services to individuals seeking to prove innocence of crimes for which they have been convicted, working to redress the causes of wrongful convictions, and supporting the exonerated after they are freed. October 2, 2024 marks the eleventh Annual Wrongful Conviction Day. This year's theme is The Pursuit of Truth. 39] – The Reaching Critical Will, Environment, and Women, Peace and Security programs of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom recently published a report investigating the nexus between the nuclear and fossil fuel industries, and state repression of activism against these industries. Titled 'Petrobromance,' Nuclear Priesthood, and Police Repression: Feminist Confrontations of Violent Industries, and Movements to Abolish Them, the report analyzes trends and parallels in how the nuclear and fossil fuel industries operate and entrench their power, and the ways resistance against these industries is suppressed by police, militaries, and private military and security companies. Join in for a conversation about its findings on Wed., Oct. 2 at 9:30 AM ET. 40] – JustFaith Ministries <info@justfaith.org> asked this question: How do we stand together with Indigenous Peoples?  The Land Is Not Our Own: Seeking Repair alongside Indigenous Communities, written in collaboration with the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery, inspires and equips congregations and communities to stand alongside Native communities in working for justice and repair. Hear from author, Sarah Augustine, about the importance of this program today.

Join in on Wed., Oct. 2 at 3:30 PM ET to learn more about the program, The Land Is Not Our Own: Seeking Repair alongside Indigenous Communities.   People’s Action has a vision for the future in which we all have a say, we all have what we need, and we all belong. In that vision, our government and our economy serve all of us, not a handful of billionaires, and concerns about corporate profits take a back seat to the well-being of our people and our planet. Over the coming weeks, reach out to voters in critical states to share this vision with them and invite them to join us in working towards it. The next phone bank at 5 PM ET is on Tues., Oct. 1.   These calls will continue through Sat., Oct. 19 from 3 to 6 PM ET.

During the 30-minute orientation, share the most effective volunteer options. Extremism has taken root and is now thriving in the Republican Party. This emboldened GOP is attacking democracy itself—designing extreme legislative gerrymanders, rigging the courts, attempting to subvert election results, and stripping away the democratic voice of the people—in order to lock in permanent minority rule.   Swing Left has the tools, programs, and community infrastructure to help you get involved strategically in whatever way you can, no matter where you are on your civic engagement journey.
