Peace Action [email@example.com] is hosting a webinar on Mon., Sept. 12
at 7 PM ET -- The Future of the Korean Peninsula: Current Conflict, Future
Peace with John Feffer, Institute for Policy Studies. The two Koreas have never seemed further
apart. The election of a conservative president in South Korea and the growing
isolation of North Korea because of COVID and continuing sanctions seem to make
peace and reunification even less likely in the short term. At the geopolitical
level, the war in Ukraine and increased U.S.-China tensions have widened
divisions on the Korean peninsula. And there appears to be little progress on
the diplomatic front between the United States and North Korea. However, other
trends point to possible cooperation across the Cold War divide — not only on
the Korean peninsula but in the region as a whole. Register at
26] –There is a No
Way to Treat a Child campaign webinar on Tues., Sept. 13 at noon ET. This webinar is organized by the AFSC and
Defense for Children International - Palestine. Last month the Israeli military
launched a massive military offensive on Gaza, killing dozens of people,
including 17 Palestinian children. Less than two weeks later, Israeli forces
raided and shut down the offices of six Palestinian civil society
organizations. This webinar will discuss how you can advocate for
accountability for Palestinian children as well as the Palestinian human rights
defenders standing up for them. Register at
28] –On Tues., Sept. 13 at 4 PM ET, tune in to How We
Welcome the Stranger: Opportunities at HIAS for Service and Engagement. From

asylum seekers, to setting up furniture in a newcomer’s apartment, HIAS offers
myriad ways to be involved in the work of welcoming the stranger. Hear about a
diverse set of opportunities for connecting with and supporting HIAS. Meet the
staff members in charge of these programs, and find out how to become a part of
their work. RSVP to
29] –Join the Baltimore Nonviolence Center on Tues., Sept. 13 from
4:30 to 5:30 PM ET at 33rd and N. Charles Sts. The
invasion of Ukraine has the potential to become a war extending throughout
Europe. Putin has destroyed Aleppo and Grozny and has threatened the use
of nuclear weapons. Russian soldiers were sent into the area around the
contaminated and still radioactive Chernobyl nuclear plant. Now they are stationed
in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.
People who believe in peace and justice should come forward and take the risks
of peace. Contact Max at mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net or 410-323-1607.
