The George Washington University offers a series of events to educate students and the general public about often overlooked facets of the history of US involvement in Vietnam, including the impact that antiwar GIs and veterans had on ending the war. 53] – On Thurs., Nov. 21 from 6:30 to 8 PM, check out Dreams in the Crosshairs: Voices from Gaza (Film + Poetry Night), hosted by the Museum of the Palestinian People.  This will be an evening of documentary film, poetry, and a tour of the Museum of the Palestinian People. You've heard about the Great Return March, the weekly protests that have rocked Gaza for more than a year now, with more than 200 civilians killed and more than 14,000 injured. On the streets of Gaza today, the dramatic increase in young men without legs or arms is evident everywhere. View a new mini documentary produced by We Are Not Numbers called "Dreams in the Crosshairs."  This remarkable, original footage has not yet been shown, and you can be part of the debut. Speaking after the showing will be Mohammed Arafat and Anas Jnena, two Gaza writers for We Are Not Numbers now in the U.S. You'll hear an update on the Great Return March and be able to ask questions about life on the ground today.  Before viewing the documentary at Middle East Books and More, take a special tour of the Museum of the Palestinian People. 54]– On Thurs., Nov. 21 from 7 PM to 8:30 PM,  join the Free Kenny Collins Campaign: A Talk With Kenny hosted by the Prison Resistance Project at Jimenez Hall, College Park, MD 20742. Kenny Collins was imprisoned in 1987 for a crime he may not have committed. Zero evidence tying him to the scene, an incompetent defense, and coerced testimony of three unreliable witnesses -- one of whom recanted -- was still enough to sentence him to death. He was eventually taken off death row due to the failings of his defense attorney, yet he remains in prison over thirty years later. He deserves to be free. Talk with Kenny about his experiences and learn what to do to help. See https://www.facebook.com/events/499081944017718/.

55] –On Thurs., Nov. 21 from 7 to 9 PM, check out Changing Behavior: How Animals Cope in a Human-Driven World,  Human activities present special challenges to wild animals. Learn how animals have changed their behavior to adapt to life alongside humans, and how wildlife professionals use behavior science to teach wild animals to participate in their own conservation. This is the third and final installment of our Animal Behavior series. Jane Marlow will speak at the Natural History Society of Maryland, 6908 Belair Rd., Baltimore 21206. Tickets are at marylandnature.wildapricot.org.  The cost is $30 for NHSM members, and $45 for non-members.  Marlow is a nature educator, animal behavior analyst, and certified exotic animal trainer. She has over 12 years of experience working in animal training and educational capacities at accredited zoos and aquariums.  See https://www.facebook.com/events/1179999658852068/?event_time_id=1179999665518734 .

58] – Inspired by the Swedish student, Greta Thunberg, the student strikers and Naomi Klein's new book "On Fire: The Burning Case for the Green New Deal," Jane Fonda decided to upend her life, left her comfort zone and move to Washington, D.C. for four months to focus on climate change. As Greta said, "This is a crisis. We have to act like our house is on fire, because it is.”  So, every Friday she will host an action called — Fire Drill Friday — at 11 AM on the East Lawn of the Capitol Building, followed by a direct action.  Each Friday focus on a different aspect of the climate crisis and what needs to be done moving forward. On November 22, that Friday will make the connection with Water.

Here’s the deal: We are living at the last possible moment in human history when we can do something about climate change or fail to do so, thereby denying hundreds of millions of people a livable future. Last year, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published its regular report which stated in no uncertain terms that given the worsening disasters we’re already seeing and the additional warming that is already baked in because we didn’t act 30 years ago, we do not stand a chance at changing course in time without profound, systemic economic and social change in the next 11 years.
