4] – Jeff Ross, an attorney in Maryland, is interested in gathering with other lawyers to discuss ways in which the legal profession and the law generally can be conceptualized as a peace-building and war-resisting institution and redirected to these ends. Areas to explore might include: 1) ways in which this group could support with legal analysis/writing those lawyers who are representing peace-builders/war-resisters in criminal prosecutions; 2) ways in which, from a more theoretical perspective, the law might be grounded in an ethic of non-violence; and 3) ways in which law students and young lawyers might be exposed to a non-violent vision of the law. All religious, philosophical, and critical perspectives on the law are welcome. The group might want to call itself Lawyers against War. Jeff can be reached at 443-690-6872 and jross50@hotmail.com.

5] -- Usually, the Baltimore Ethical Society, 2521 St. Paul St., Baltimore 21218, meets on Sundays, and generally there is a speaker and discussion at 10:30 AM.  On Sun., Nov. 10 hear about “Good and Evil.”  What are we talking about when we speak of “good” and “evil”? The dynamic struggle between good and evil has been examined through art, literature, and philosophy for millenniums, but there’s no consensus about the meaning of the terms. Hugh Taft-Morales explores evil as represented in the rise of Nazism and the attempted genocide of Jews, Romani, homosexuals, and others. He will then share the story about the residents of Le Chambon, France, who gave sanctuary to Jewish children. It shines out as what some called “a conspiracy of goodness.” How, in the midst of that dark horror, did goodness survive? What lessons can we draw from this story to help us live more ethically today?  Hugh Taft-Morales joined the Baltimore Ethical Society as its professional leader in 2010, the same year he was certified by the American Ethical Union as an Ethical Culture Leader.  Call 410-581-2322 or email ask@bmorethical.org.

In this work the Alliance adds to the tradition that includes playwrights Samuel Beckett and Tom Stoppard of paying tribute to Havel by making Vaněk a universal character. The performance is written and directed by Susan Galbraith.  Look at https://www.facebook.com/events/510364376469067/?event_time_id=510364389802399.

Do not go to the Pentagon City stop! Go up south escalators and turn left and walk across to protest area. By car from D.C. area, take 395 South and get off at Exit 8A-Pentagon South Parking. Take slight right onto S. Rotary Rd. at end of ramp and right on S. Fern St. Then take left onto Army Navy Dr. You can "pay to park" on Army Navy Dr.,  and there is meter parking one block on right on Eads St. Payment for both of these spots begin at 8 AM.  No cameras are allowed on Pentagon grounds. The 40 Global Core Event cycle began on September 21st, 2019 (U.N.'s International Day of Peace), as a strong statement of intention for this campaign — that this movement help bring about a sturdy foundation for a global, sovereign, integrative, and united vibrant culture of peace.  The event on 11/11 is called ‘The Peace Convergence’. On this day - the 101 year anniversary of the end of World War I (11/11/19) - there will be a first public letter signing event for those who have chosen to co-sign the letter thus far. Bringing influential community leaders, politicians, veterans, business leaders, entertainers, and more together for a signing ceremony witnessed by the world.  There will be many ceremonial signings in the months following, but this will be the torch lighting event. Below is a brief overview of the event schedule.

People are invited to gather at the Lincoln Memorial and Reflection Pond starting as early as 9:09 AM and ending at 3:33 PM, where organizational partners to the Campaign, and sponsors of, will have booths throughout the area sharing their piece of this global peace movement. As people enter the space they will walk through designated Ports of Entry, signifying the pathway to citizenship and the processes of. At these Ports of Entry we will have ritual welcoming, celebrating, cleansing and gifting practices, modeling an example of what a healthy border and immigration system could look like.
