This is where parents, family members, educators, and supporters from across the nation gather each month to gain practical tools to promote, protect, and strengthen our public schools. 33] – Peace Action [info@peaceaction.org] on Tues., May 12 at 7:30 PM wants you meet Jarrett Keohokalole. Help send this pro-peace islander to Congress! Register to join in online on Zoom to hear from Jarrett and pose your questions. Jarrett represents a new generation of leadership that we desperately need, one that listens, reflects local values, and acts with urgency. He addresses problems now and centers the people who bear the costs when systems fail. Jarrett has pledged to be a leader in reimaging the United States’ role on the world stage as a global peace leader by working to end unnecessary and costly conflicts, including opposing the disastrous war with Iran, and strengthening congressional oversight over military action and executive war powers.
In this cycle, Hawaii brings an opportunity to expand the progressive, pro-peace votes in Congress. State Senator Keohokalole is an inspiring Native Hawaiian who has spent years serving the communities most often left behind through Hawai’i’s many years of change. He’s looking to change the status quo and make government work for people instead of corporations and big money. 36] – Friends of Sabeel North America [friends@fosna.org] on Tues., May 13 at 11 AM want to tell you about the Ongoing Nakba and Prospects for Peace and Justice for Palestinians. For the past eight decades, since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, Palestinians have experienced what they call the “ongoing Nakba” (or catastrophe) – displacement and dispossession, and denial of rights. Wars and occupation, expulsion and land appropriation have all been part of what Palestinians have been victims of. Since 2023, a genocide in Gaza and intensified military and settler violence in the West Bank, in addition to the impact of the 2025 and 2026 US and Israeli wars on Iran have shattered Palestinian life and society even more. In a time when nationalisms are on the rise worldwide, Israelis and Palestinians both continue to assert national claims and rights on a land inhabited by 7.5 million Israeli Jews and a similar number of Palestinians. Peace seems as elusive as ever. In this webinar, join Jonathan Kuttab who will discuss the current reality in a context of regional war, genocide and occupation in Palestine, and prospects for peace with justice. Jonathan is the Executive Director of Friends of Sabeel-North America (FOSNA); a practicing attorney, and co-founder of al-Haq, a prominent Palestinian human rights organization; and a Palestinian Christian who was among those who developed a Palestinian theology of liberation.
