19] – School of International Service, AU <sisevents @ american. edu> is hosting Transatlantic Ambassadors: Diplomacy in a Troubled Age on Mon., April 4 from 4 to 5:30 PM ET in the Abramson Family Founders Room and Online. The continuing COVID-19 pandemic, great power competition between the United States and China, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine are but a few examples of the very pressing challenges for international affairs. But they are also stark reminders of the vital importance of diplomacy to manage these troubled times. 23] – Join the Baltimore Nonviolence Center on Tues., April 5 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM ET for a support demonstration for the people of Ukraine at 33rd and N. Charles Sts. The protest against Johns Hopkins University’s weapons contracts is suspended. The invasion of Ukraine has the potential to become a war extending throughout Europe.  Putin has destroyed Aleppo and Grozny and has threatened the use of nuclear weapons.  Russian soldiers have taken over the contaminated and still radioactive Chernobyl nuclear plant.  A Russian tank sent projectiles very close to a nuclear power plant. The workers are under guard, and this is tremendously dangerous.  People who believe in peace and justice must come forward and take the risks of peace. Contact Max at mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net or 410-323-1607. This vigil will takes place each Tuesday.

31] – Stop the Money Pipeline [info@stopthemoneypipeline.com] would appreciate if you could attend on Tues., April 5 at 8 PM ET Wall Street’s Moment of Truth. This is a People or Fossil Fuels Campaign Rally.  In 2021, the world’s sixty largest banks provided the fossil fuel industry with more money than was invested in renewables, globally. The six largest Wall Street banks alone provided over $220 billion in financing to coal, oil, and gas corporations. This is terrifying. But there is a chance to win real change this shareholder season. RSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_rBjcGfnmQTGrVrDjiUioMg?link_id=0&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-senator-warren-has-wall-streets-number&email_referrer=email_1498016___subject_1959322&email_subject=senator-warren-knows-whats-up. Over the next eight weeks, shareholders at every major US bank and several major insurance companies will vote on whether or not to end their support of fossil fuel expansion. This is a huge opportunity to force banks to stop funding the climate crisis ― but your voice needs to be heard.

32] – On Tues., April 5 from 8 to 9 PM ET, join CODEPINK Congress & Massachusetts Peace Action for the twice-monthly Capitol Calling Party.  As Russia’s assault on Ukraine takes a huge civilian toll, Joe Gerson and Phyllis Bennis will discuss options for peace that include neutrality for Ukraine, humanitarian aid for refugees, an international security agreement, status of the secessionist regions in the Donbas, Russian reparations for Ukraine and an off-ramp for lifting sanctions on Russia. How do we reach a peace settlement? Bennis is a Fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington and of the Amsterdam-based Transnational Institute. Gerson is president of the Campaign for Peace, Disarmament and Common Security, vice-president of the International Peace Bureau, and a board member of MAPA. Sign up at https://www.codepink.org/04052022.

To be continued.
