Russia's invasion of Ukraine shows that America must lead the world in a clean energy transition. Our dependence on fossil fuel empowers foreign petro states and dictators like Vladimir Putin. But transitioning away from oil, gas, and coal is made much harder by the hundreds of House members -- including too many Democrats -- who take tens of thousands of dollars in campaign donations from fossil fuel industries. The next Meet the Candidates guest doesn't take any corporate money -- let alone oil, gas, and coal money. Doyle Canning is a climate champion who has spent 20 years building movements for strong climate solutions, working families, racial justice, environmental restoration, and more -- and she’s running for Congress in the open, blue Oregon 4th.

53] – The COMMITTEE FOR THE REPUBLIC is hosting Ted Postol, Cynthia Lazaroff, and Joe Cirincione on Thurs., March 17 at 7:30 PM ET.  They are to answer the question Is Ukraine Our Armageddon? RSVP at Events@CommitteefortheRepublic.org.  Join in by Zoom: https://zoom.us/j/7812458066.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine heightens the terrifying prospect of nuclear war. Three experts on nuclear weapons and Russia will discuss the dangerous steps the U.S. and Russia are taking on the ladder of escalation. Russia is on nuclear alert. The United States became a co-belligerent after the invasion by systematic delivery of arms to Ukraine. Putin responded by declaring arms convoys legitimate military targets. Trade has virtually ended. Russian finances are crippled by terminating SWIFT and seizing Russian foreign exchange reserves. In a Reuters poll, 74% of American support a no-fly zone which would move America from state of co-belligerency to belligerency.

54] – Workers World Party [wwp@workers.org] is hosting a webinar on Thurs., March 17 at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_n2_5dCUQR8athCIfJ59Ewgat 7:30 PM ET -- Global Solidarity with Women and Gender Oppressed Workers. Register
