25] – Turn January 6 into Democracy Day.  Public Citizen and allies are holding vigils — in person and online — around the country to mark this shameful anniversary. A majority of Republican voters say that the 2020 election results were fraudulent and that they cannot trust the 2024 results if their candidate does not prevail. On Thurs., Jan. 6 from noon to 1 PM, rally at the Bel Air office of U.S. House Rep. Andy Harris, 15 E. Churchville Road, Bel Air, MD 21014. This event is hosted by CASA in Action, the foremost Latino and immigrant organization in the Mid-Atlantic region and a national leader in supporting immigrant families and ensuring that all individuals have the core supports necessary for full participation in society. Sign up at https://www.mobilize.us/democracyvigils/event/434982/.

26] – Ben Jealous, People For the American Way [alerts@pfaw.org] is hoping you can join him on Thurs., Jan. 6 at 4:30 PM in D.C. to lift up our democracy. There will be a candlelight vigil to recognize the anniversary of the violent right-wing attack on the seat of our democracy.  Gather that afternoon to commemorate the lives lost and those still suffering the traumatic aftereffects of the Capitol attack, and to urge Congress to take decisive action to make sure that nothing like that can ever happen again. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/pfaw/event/433559/?utm_source=pfaw. This event’s address is private.

All event participants are expected to have weighed their own risk in attending, and follow all local safety guidelines. Individual hosts are responsible for compliance with their own local laws and event requirements (including orders limiting the sizes of events). Additionally, a core principle shared by supporting organizations is a commitment to nonviolent, peaceful actions. Register voters at the National Mall on 3rd Street between Madison Drive, NW and Jefferson Drive, SW. It is also recommended signing up for the vigil itself so you can stay posted about location, instructions, and changes. Here's that link: https://www.mobilize.us/defend-democracy/event/433559/.
