48] – With the General Assembly session in the rearview mirror, Jews United for Justice are examining Baltimore City's budget. The preliminary budget, released by Mayor Scott, includes a more than $25 million increase to the Police Department's budget and a huge cut in the education budget. This is unacceptable and is not what Mayor Scott has been promising Baltimoreans. Public safety must be reimagined. Invest in communities, not cops. The Campaign for Justice Safety & Jobs (CJSJ) is working on a multi-year campaign to cut $100 million from BPD's budget. The first big opportunity to join in is Wed., April 21 at 6 PM at the Virtual Board of Estimate's Taxpayer Night.  Sign in at https://jufj.org/our-work/issue-campaigns/police-accountability-baltimore/?emci=fc05a03c-1c9e-eb11-85aa-0050f237abef&emdi=cfca695d-ad9e-eb11-85aa-0050f237abef&ceid=3403859#1618519439419-02bd46c6-9053.

Empire of Borders takes the reader from the U.S. Mexico Border to Palestine to the Caribbean to show how the definition of the U.S. border has expanded far beyond the traditional idea of what a border is.
