28] –On Thur., Jan. 29 from noon to 1:30 PM at
the Dirksen Senate Office Building (Room
226), 50 Constitution Ave. NE, WDC 20002, the Burma Research
Institute (BRI) invites you to the release of "Burma: Severe Violations of
Religious Freedom Against Christians," covering the 2021 military coup
through December 2025. The report highlights the Burmese military's egregious,
systematic, and ongoing violations of religious freedom against Christians in
Chin, Kachin, Karenni (Kayah), Karen states, and Sagaing region through church
bombings, imprisonments of pastors, and killings of Christian leaders. Among
other recommendations, BRI urges the Trump administration to determine these
atrocities as crimes against humanity and war crimes. It also calls for
congressional hearings. Call 443-936-8616 or
email zotumhmung@burmari.org
29] –Back from the Brink [info@preventnuclearwar.org] on Thurs., Jan. 29 from 1 to 5 PM ET will do a Phone Bank. Get your local elected officials to step up. What's the focus of the phone bank? In 2025, BFTB launched this letter to Congress in support of BftB’s congressional resolutions — H. Res. 317 and S. Res. 323. The letter has already been signed by over 150 mayors, city/town councilors, county commissioners, and state legislators. We hope to get many more officials to sign the letter before it is released in late March. 30] – THE REAL NEWS NETWORK PRESENTS: Earth’s Greatest Enemy which is the second documentary from journalist Abby Martin that uncovers a shocking blind spot in the climate conversation: the U.S. military. Exempt from international climate agreements and rarely scrutinized in mainstream reporting, the Pentagon is revealed here as the world’s single largest institutional polluter—spewing carbon, contaminating water, and scarring landscapes across the globe. Combining investigative journalism, striking visuals, and stories from impacted communities, the film challenges audiences to rethink the hidden costs of a global military empire and its planetary consequences. Provocative, urgent, and eye-opening, this is a documentary that will change how you see both the military and environmentalism. Participate in the Q&A and panel discussion with Abby Martin following the film.
You can see the film from 5:30 to 9:30 PM at RNN, 231 Holliday St., Baltimore 21202. Tickets are from $10 to $20. Visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/earths-greatest-enemy-trnn-baltimore-premiere-with-abby-martin-qa-tickets-1975884008258

33] –On Thurs., Jan. 29 at 7 PM, join a Zoom discussion of the “A House of Dynamite." It is an apocalyptic political thriller that gives us a view of the devastating anticipation of a nuclear attack. Get drawn into the nerve wracking decision rooms as this unsettling picture shows us what could become our future if the right choices are not made today. Jeremy Love of Back from the Brink will be leading the discussion to help find a sense of purpose instead of hopelessness. This movie is available to stream on Netflix for those who have an account. As you watch the movie, think about how you feel about the threat of nuclear war, what you think is realistic considering the actions of current world leaders, and how you feel life would change after a nuclear attack. 34] – The Peace Action Election Team [info@peaceaction.org] on Thurs., Jan. 29 at 7:15 PM ET will host Nida Allam. A Hate Crime Killed Her Best Friends. Now she’s running for Congress. Nida entered politics after three of her closest friends were murdered in the 2015 Chapel Hill hate crime shooting—a painful loss that ignited her campaign against bigotry and division. Today, as Trump’s soldiers are using violence from shocking shootings in Minnesota to attacks nationwide, her story resonates deeply.
In 2022, Peace Action proudly endorsed Nida Allam in her congressional race for NC-04, and it took AIPAC's unprecedented $2 million+ spending to block this progressive voice on foreign policy—one who rejects endless wars and fights for diplomacy over militarism. This cycle she has an even better shot at winning. 35] – On Thurs., Jan. 29 at 8 PM ET check out the webinar: "Reaching a Milestone: Surpassing 1,000 Apartheid-Free Communities." In December the growing Apartheid-Free movement marked a milestone when over 1000 communities pledged to become Apartheid-Free. These communities are working to cut ties with Israel’s apartheid regime against Palestinians and to oppose all forms of racism, bigotry, discrimination, and oppression. Together, they represent over a million constituents and include congregations, faith communities, solidarity organizations, non-profits, student organizations, unions, businesses, municipalities, and more. Participants will have time to ask questions and find inspiration for their own Apartheid-Free efforts.
