54] –Statewide, the push to ban Maryland’s participation in the harmful federal 287(g) program is moving forward, with its first hearing on Thurs., Jan. 22 at 6:30 PM in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. This bill would stop local law enforcement from collaborating with ICE, helping restore community trust and making everyone safer.

59] – On Thurs., Jan. 22 watch Maria Stephan on the Colbert Show. She is a world authority on strategic nonviolence at the Horizons Project, a member of the Advisory Council of Pax Christi International's Catholic Institute for Nonviolence, and the keynote speaker at last August's national conference. On CBS' "Late Night with Stephen Colbert" she will discuss the power of nonviolent strategies for social change. On CBS the show will air at 11:35 PM ET. The program is also recorded for more convenient viewing at other times. It should be available on YouTube the morning after the broadcast.
