The 2026 Maryland General Assembly legislative session has begun! This week, dozens of advocates rallied at the State House in Annapolis for the Affordable Solar Act with climate champion Delegate Lorig Charkoudian (District 20) to reinforce the urgency of clean solar energy here in Maryland.  And that was only the start of our campaign for affordable clean energy statewide! Our elected officials in the General Assembly need to hear from their constituents across the state. Our collective action is critical – even if going to Annapolis in person isn’t accessible for you. Take action — from the comfort of home — by joining one of the virtual phone banks or postcard-writing parties!

The first Tuesday evening phone bank is on Jan. 20 from 6 to 8 PM.  The phone banks will continue through April 7. The first post card huddle will be on Mon., Jan. 26 from 7 to 8 PM. The next one will be Mon., Feb. 23 from 7 to 8 PM. The postcards AND the stamps will be mailed to you— all you need to do is show up and write to your legislators. 30] –

31] – Massachusetts Peace Action is hosting a webinar with Matthew Hoh, a former soldier and diplomat, who will discuss the Ukraine War: End it Now or Lose Much More Later on Tues., Jan. 20 from 7 to 8:30 PM ET. Hoh will speak on the military, economic and political state of the Ukraine War as it nears its 4th anniversary.  He will summarize the current military, economic and political realities for Ukraine and Russia, as well as Europe and the US, and provide his thoughts on what a successful negotiated settlement may look like. Finally, he will discuss the dangers that will continue even if there is a peace agreement and why demilitarization and a renewed effort to rebuild a wrecked United Nations system are urgently needed. 32] – The Northern Virginia DSA Medicare for All Working Group virtual meeting is on Tues., Jan. 20 from 7 to 8 PM ET.
