62] – In 2022, the Arlington County Board adopted a “Trust” policy to limit collaboration with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in response to ICE out of Arlington, a campaign led by Arlington families and community members demanding an end to collaboration with this violent agency. While the adopted policy increased some protections, it fell short of what the County can do to truly protect our communities, including ensuring that the Arlington County Police Department stops contacting ICE and for County agencies to accept a range of IDs for all residents. These increased protections are urgent, particularly as ICE’s surveillance, incarceration, and deportation machine has continued to expand putting more of our loved ones at risk.
