Dear Friend,

We invite you and your organization to participate in the Second Annual Progressive Summit and Lobbying Night in Annapolis sponsored by the Progressive Working Group on Monday March 12.

Marriage Equality has passed and there is the opportunity to pass other progressive legislation this session.

But we need a progressive presence in Annapolis to lobby legislators to do the right thing.

Please join us on March 12 as we visit key legislators, including committee chairs, beginning at 3:30 pm. We will have appointments and a summit meeting until 8 pm, so come as early as you're able. Our meeting room, from 3 to 8 pm, will be Room 131 (Ways and Means Committee Meeting Room) in the House Office Building in Annapolis.

The 11 key issues participating groups have agreed upon are shown on the attached flyer. Our objective is to have various organizations and individuals work together in advocating for a range of critical progressive issues, thus strengthening our collective voice.

What else can you do (in addition to coming to the summit)?

-Have your organization endorse the Progressive Summit. Participating groups thus far include: Progressive Maryland, Progressive Cheverly, Progressive Neighbors, Gender Rights Maryland, Peace and Justice Coalition of Prince George's County, Maryland United for Peace and Justice, Metro DC Democratic Socialists of America, Progressive Democrats of America, Democracy for Montgomery County, Upcounty Action, Healthcare Now of Maryland, Peace Action Montgomery

-Send the attached flyer to your members, progressive list serves, fellow progressives, and otherwise get the word out

-Contact Norman Oslik at noslik@verizon.net to let us know you'll be participating and ask how you can help. (For example, we will need constituents present from targeted districts when we meet with key committee chairs and legislators from those districts.)

We hope you will be participate in this important legislative event. For further information, contact Norman Oslik at noslik@verizon.net (301-322-5272)
