The Inflation Reduction Act provides much needed relief and ways to curb Rx prices and drug company price gouging. More relief is possible without having to wait for Congress! Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra can use Executive Action to cut prices and expand access to life-saving medications. Urge Secretary Becerra to meet with the Make Meds Affordable campaign advocates and to hear from people who are being hurt by high Rx prices. The rally will be at the Humphrey Building, 200 Independence Ave. SW. See https://www.mobilize.us/progressivemaryland/event/510240/?followup_modal_context=organization_newsletter_custom_recommendations.  If you're not able to join in-person, register with People's Action for a Zoom link to tune in virtually: ppls.ac/mma_day.

Inflation. Inflation. RSVP at https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_W9sEz_YdQ2uh5axlkGyv0A?link_id=1&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-join-me-tomorrow-18&email_referrer=email_1690885&email_subject=join-me-tomorrow. Surge Voters” are base voters, especially younger voters and voters of color who turned out for the first time in 2018 and 2020. Many were motivated by the racial justice protests over the summer of 2020 and an aversion to Donald Trump. We need these often harder-to-reach voters to show up again in 2022.

65] – Learn How to Pass a Local Resolution in Response to the January 6 Investigation, a Virtual Meeting, hosted by January 6 Hearings on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:30 PM EDT.  Passing local resolutions helps build momentum on a local, state and national level to protect our freedom to vote from ongoing efforts by Trump and MAGA Republicans to sabotage our elections.

The bipartisan January 6th Select Committee has shown that Trump and his MAGA allies planned, promoted, and paid for a criminal conspiracy to overturn an election they knew they’d lost. Trump and his MAGA allies continue to work to sabotage future elections by changing state laws, threatening state officials and packing election administration offices so that they can have the final say over election results – even when they lose. This event will continue through Nov. 17.  Sign up for the Oct. 6 webinar at https://www.mobilize.us/pfaw/event/482504/?followup_modal_context=newsletter.

66] – The Endangered Species Coalition [action@endangered.org], in this time of accelerating species loss, is making time to express the love we have for the natural world.  This is an important way to reconnect to the wildlife, plants, and ecosystems. On Thurs., Oct. 6 at 5:30 PM ET attend Love Letters Art + Science Workshop.  In partnership with interdisciplinary artist Valerie Constantino, the Coalition is offering a new, free, creative art and science workshop that will provide you with space to reconnect to the wild. The workshop is called Love Letters. We’ll build off of the traditional concept of a love letter - a written expression of one’s love for another - and explore through words and images the emotions that arise in response to the endangerment of particular species. Visit endangered.org/loveletters.

67] – Progressive Maryland wants you to do a Take Action Phone Bank on Thurs., Oct. 6 from 6 to 8 PM. 68] -- The Metro DC DSA [info@mdcdsa.org] wants you to know about a rally on Thurs., Oct. 6 at 6:15 PM ET for LGBTQIA2S+ Students in Fairfax Co Schools – School Board Meeting. Be at the Jackson Middle School, 3020 Gallows Road, Fall Church, VA 22042. Email novabranch [at] mdcdsa.org. Trans people in Virginia are under attack in Richmond! The Youngkin/Schultz Department of Education has written a falsely named Model Policy that rewrites the Virginia Human Rights Act for schools to exclude LGBTQIA+ people, and effectively makes being safe or welcomed in a public school in Virginia impossible for transgender and non-binary students and staff.
