19] – There is an urgent need to educate the public about the growing danger of nuclear war and what we can do about it.  Many of us want to help with this education but feel uncomfortable doing public speaking on this issue. On Mon., July 25 at 7 PM ET, take a Nuclear Disarmament Speaker Training with Ira Helfand. Each session will last 60 to 90 minutes. In the first session there will be a brief sample presentation about the nuclear danger and what people can do, followed by a group discussion of the questions that audiences frequently pose at such presentations.  This will be followed by short break out sessions to identify what other information people need to speak on their own. At the second session each participant will have the opportunity to do a brief presentation of their own on one aspect of the topic with feedback from the group.

Registrants will receive a sample Power Point and a list of FAQ’s with possible answers.  Helfand is the immediate past president of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which won the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize, and is the cofounder and past president of Physicians for Social Responsibility, IPPNW’s US affiliate. 24] – Join the Voter Protection phone banks with Common Cause to work together to demand bold changes to our democracy to create a government that represents all of us, not big corporations or special interests. Call voters in New Hampshire to connect them with Gov. Sununu and encourage him to veto SB 418 and voters in Michigan to recruit them for events happening around their state. These phone banks are subject to change based on variables outside of our control (i.e. a Senator's mailbox is full).  On Sundays, call voters in Michigan to recruit them for events happening around their state.
