On Aug. 2, as it seems the hunger strike continues, the vigil will Support Guantanamo Hunger Strikers--Close Guantanamo & End Indefinite Detention. The men detained at the U.S. prison in Guantánamo are engaged in a large-scale hunger strike, which began in early February. The vast majority of the 166 prisoners have been held for more than 11 years without any charge or fair trial, with no end to their detention in sight. End gun violence. 34] – As part of the 68th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 - 9, 1945, see a screening of BAREFOOT GEN on Fri., Aug. 2 at 7 PM at the Peace Center of Delaware County. The First-Friday Large Screen Film Series takes place at 1001 Old Sproul Road, Springfield, PA 19064. The horror of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima is seen through the eyes of a child in this classic animated film from Japan. It is based on the experiences of a Hiroshima survivor. Doors open for light refreshments at 6:30 PM.
