3] – THE ORGANIZING LIST will be the primary decision-making mechanism of the National Campaign of Nonviolent Resistance [NCNR]. It will be augmented by conference calls and possibly in-person meetings as needed. It will consist of 1 or 2 representatives from each local, regional, or national organization (not coalitions) that wishes to actively work to carry out the NCNR campaign of facilitating and organizing nonviolent resistance to the war in Iraq.

THE NOTICES LIST will include only notices of NCNR actions and related information and is open to any interested person to subscribe. 5] – Bill Barry [wbarrymd@hotmail.com] is asking for your help in keeping the Maryland Green Party on the ballot line. The Maryland Green Party still needs another 1,500 signatures on petitions. Can you help out? He has the petitions, and would like to know if you can get ten signatures from registered voters. He will get you the petitions.

12] – Camille Brown presents Cleaning the Heart: an Exhibition to Benefit Thai Freedom House, a non-profit community language and arts center in Northern Thailand,

13] – On Fri., July 6 at 7 PM, see Oliver Stone's classic film BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY starring Tom Cruise. It tells the true story of Ron Kovic, Vietnam combat veteran turned peace activist and shows the impact of that war on the home front. The Solidarity Center cannot pay this month's rent! The organizers have been so busy with police brutality that no time was spent on formal fund raising. 17] – There’s a SLAP Fundraiser on Fri., July 6 from 8 to 10 PM at Adams Morgan Mellow Mushroom, 2436 18th St. NW. National SLAP is putting on a fundraiser to help send SLAP students to the USSA Congress in Madison, Wisconsin. Live music performance by Lucky Dub, featuring D.C. JwJ and SLAP's very own Isaiah Toney. The cover charge is $5 for the band, and donations to SLAP can be made inside. It has been a really exciting year for SLAP and the movement as a whole. SLAP students across the country were active in the Occupy Movement, and at this past year's USSA LegCon, SLAP and USSA took aim at Sallie Mae, one of the largest corporate profiteers of student loans. Over 300 students rallied in front of the Sallie Mae office demanding a meeting with CEO Albert Lord to discuss student debt. When Sallie Mae refused to talk 36 students were arrested in nonviolent civil disobedience. Then on May 24th, over 200 students and community activists protested Sallie Mae at their annual shareholder's meeting in Newark, Delaware with SLAP shareholders inside. 18] – The Pets On Wheels 7th Annual Dog-A-Thon is taking place on Sat., July 7 from 10 AM to 8 PM and on Sun., July 8 from 11 AM to 7 PM. 21] – There will be a peace vigil on the West Lawn of the Capitol at noon on Sat., July 7. Look for the blue banner with the message, "Seek Peace and Pursue It.--Psalms 34:14." 22] – Usually, the Baltimore Ethical Society, 306 W. Franklin St., Suite 102, Baltimore, MD 21201-4661, meets on Sundays, and generally there is a speaker and discussion from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. On Sun., July 8, the topic is “Putting on Our Sunday Best.” However, the Baltimore Ethical Society will gather with members of the Washington and Northern Virginia Ethical Societies to celebrate Ethical Culture. This joint meeting – which will start at 11 AM – will be hosted at the Washington Ethical Society (WES, 7750 16th St. NW, WDC 20012). Along with the leaders of the three societies – Amanda Poppei, Mary Herman, Jone Johnson Lewis, and Hugh Taft-Morales – the program will explore what it is that makes the Sunday morning meetings special! 24] – Join the Kick-off of the New D.C. BDS Campaign Against SodaStream on Sun., July 8 from 2 to 4 PM in front of Columbia Heights Mall at the Columbia Heights Metro Station on 14th St., just north of intersection with Irving St. Jewish Voice for Peace DC Metro Chapter is launching a new boycott campaign against SodaStream, a Swiss company that manufactures its beverage carbonating machine in Mishor Edumim, a settlement in the West Bank.







In large part, due to the success of the European boycott campaign, SodaStream has moved to the U.S. It's making a splash in a huge number of DC stores like Bed, Bath & Beyond, Staples, and Target, all of which are located in the Columbia Heights Mall. The Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba will challenge the U.S. economic and travel blockade on Cuba, imposed on the Cuban people over 50 years ago. The Caravan will travel through up to 130 cities in the U.S. and Canada, to raise awareness about the U.S. blockade and to gather humanitarian aid to take to Cuba. After travelling through the U.S. there is a blockade-busting border crossing into Mexico. 29] – The Occupy DC Lobbying Group is meeting on Sun., July 8 at 6 PM at the Occupy DC Office, Institute for Policy Studies, 1112 16th St. NW, Suite 600. There are a lot of different laws that need to be changed that Occupy could lobby about—Glass-Stegal, Future Commodities Act, Taft-Hartley Act, co-determination laws, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and others. 32] – The Free Franklin Shelter Trial takes place on Mon., July 9 at 9:30 AM in D.C. Superior Court, 500 Indiana Ave. NW, Courtroom #112. It is requested that supporters show up at 8:30 AM outside the courthouse. Last November a group of community members going by the name “Free Franklin” entered and occupied the former Franklin Shelter building at 13th and K Sts. NW. It was a protest about the lack of homeless shelters in D.C. Six of the people arrested at the occupation will be fighting a charge of unlawful entry in a jury trial. 33] – Day One of General Strike for DC Statehood is on for Mon., July 9 at 8:30 AM everywhere. Stand Up! for Democracy in DC (Free DC) will join consumer advocate and citizen rights organizer, Ralph Nader, local and national groups and other DC statehood supporters to launch a general limited Strike for DC Statehood. They're calling on all DC residents, their family, friends, relatives and supporters to postpone your arrival to work for 15 minutes! It's a painless but important way to start a campaign here for our liberty just 5 days after the 4th of July celebrations! They are encouraging everyone to expand the strike by postponing your arrival to work 30 minutes on August 1, 2012, 45 minutes on September 10, 2012 and one hour on October 1, 2012.
