77] – On Fri., Oct. 16 from 10 to 11:15 AM EDT, be at Russia’s War in Donbas: Ripe for a Resolution? It will take place on Facebook Live, hosted by the United States Institute of Peace. More than six years after Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and invasion of eastern Ukraine, there is little evident movement toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The implementation of a package of measures dubbed the “Minsk II” process—which calls for a cease-fire, troop withdrawal, the return of border control to Kyiv, and local elections—is bogged down. Both Ukraine and the international community are looking for new solutions that would bring about a long-awaited peace. Watch this event live at https://www.usip.org/.../russias-war-donbas-ripe-resolution.

82] – At a time of COVID-19, US District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood on Thursday, Oct. 15 at whacked Fr. Steve Kelly, S.J. He has been incarcerated since April 4, 2018 and surpassed the recommended confinement guidelines for his sentencing. Nevertheless, after the prosecutor suggested confinement “on the high end” of the guidelines, Wood sternly lectured him and sentenced him to 33 months, three years of supervised probation upon release, restitution of $25 per quarter, while in prison, and $50 per month upon release. She even suggested that a Stanford professor who wrote to support Steve indicated that Steve broke the law and must be punished. I want to see this letter. When Steve brought up the case of Thomas More, Judge Wood said he broke the law and had to be punished. This freaked me out, as Henry the Eighth’s law called for More’s beheading. Also note ironically Thomas More’s portrait is in the courtroom.
“Recourse to appeal is futile, pathetic, and dangerous because all the judiciary’s rulings precluded our jury from hearing any defense,” Fr. Steve wrote the judge prior to his sentencing. “The circuit, appeal, the entire judiciary has thwarted redress that would fulfill the purpose and mandate of the signatories of the Nuremberg Accords. For this reason, I am a political prisoner of conscience for Christ.”
Since leaving jail in May 2018, Patrick O’Neill has awaited sentencing under probation supervision and daily curfews in his hometown of Garner, NC. He is a hospital chaplain and cofounder of the Fr. Charlie Mulholland Catholic Worker community with his wife, Mary, and eight children. He will appear for sentencing before Judge Wood on Fri., Oct. 16 at 1 PM ET. To CALL in for Patrick’s sentencing, Dial 888-684-8852, Access Code: 8878734#, Security Code: 1234#. An alternate number is available: 888-684-8852, Access Code: 2296092#, Security Code: 1234#.

The #VoteTrumpOut campaign is contacting thousands of swing voters on Facebook every day, and your help is needed. Volunteer Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with the Digital Canvass team, and help flip a crucial swing state! Everyone who can should be giving time to help save our planet from this aspiring tyrant. Sign up here to get started: https://www.mobilize.us/unitedagainsttrump/event/329042/. He makes use of herbs (which can be sent directly to patients from the herbal dispensary) as well as prescribing medications to their local pharmacy if needed.
104] – The Trump Administration is again beating the war drums. Most recently, the target is Iran. Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton, convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will not tolerate his abuse of power.
Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time, the following day. “One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
