77] – On Fri., Oct. 16 from 10 to 11:15 AM EDT, be at Russia’s War in Donbas: Ripe for a Resolution?  It will take place on Facebook Live, hosted by the United States Institute of Peace.  More than six years after Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea and invasion of eastern Ukraine, there is little evident movement toward a peaceful resolution of the conflict. The implementation of a package of measures dubbed the “Minsk II” process—which calls for a cease-fire, troop withdrawal, the return of border control to Kyiv, and local elections—is bogged down. Both Ukraine and the international community are looking for new solutions that would bring about a long-awaited peace. Watch this event live at https://www.usip.org/.../russias-war-donbas-ripe-resolution.

78] – The Empire Unclothed: Implications of the 2020 US Elections for Humanity and Mother Earth will take place on Fri., Oct. 16 from 11 AM to 1 PM.  Sign up for this Online Event at http://masspeaceaction.org/venue/online-event/?emci=bfb935f7-a80c-eb11-96f5-00155d03affc&emdi=7e7b3dfd-a90c-eb11-96f5-00155d03affc&ceid=269591.  Walden Bello, Mama Charlotte, Kolya Abramsky, & Marie Cruz Soto will speak to the US Elections and their implications for humanity & Mother Earth.

The other is in Chestertown, Kent County on the Eastern Shore in Memorial Park at Cross Street & Park Row.  This will be a safe-distanced stand for Peace with Justice  & No to War. Email wibbaltimore@peacepath911.org.

82] – At a time of COVID-19, US District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood on Thursday, Oct. 15 at whacked Fr. Steve Kelly, S.J. He has been incarcerated since April 4, 2018 and surpassed the recommended confinement guidelines for his sentencing.  Nevertheless, after the prosecutor suggested confinement “on the high end” of the guidelines, Wood sternly lectured him and sentenced him to 33 months, three years of supervised probation upon release, restitution of $25 per quarter, while in prison, and $50 per month upon release.  She even suggested that a Stanford professor who wrote to support Steve indicated that Steve broke the law and must be punished.  I want to see this letter.  When Steve brought up the case of Thomas More, Judge Wood said he broke the law and had to be punished.  This freaked me out, as Henry the Eighth’s law called for More’s beheading.  Also note ironically Thomas More’s portrait is in the courtroom.

“Recourse to appeal is futile, pathetic, and dangerous because all the judiciary’s rulings precluded our jury from hearing any defense,” Fr. Steve wrote the judge prior to his sentencing. “The circuit, appeal, the entire judiciary has thwarted redress that would fulfill the purpose and mandate of the signatories of the Nuremberg Accords. For this reason, I am a political prisoner of conscience for Christ.”

Since leaving jail in May 2018, Patrick O’Neill has awaited sentencing under probation supervision and daily curfews in his hometown of Garner, NC. He is a hospital chaplain and cofounder of the Fr. Charlie Mulholland Catholic Worker community with his wife, Mary, and eight children. He will appear for sentencing before Judge Wood on Fri., Oct. 16 at 1 PM ET.  To CALL in for Patrick’s sentencing, Dial 888-684-8852, Access Code: 8878734#, Security Code: 1234#.  An alternate number is available: 888-684-8852, Access Code: 2296092#, Security Code: 1234#.

95] – Protecting Our Votes & the 2020 Election is the topic for discussion at the Our Revolution Baltimore City/County Chapter Meeting. This is an election like no other. In the middle of a pandemic that has disrupted voting nationwide, and with a president determined to hold on to power by any means, legitimate or illegitimate. Discuss what we can do to protect our vote, win in November, and ensure the current occupant leaves the White House. Tune in at https://www.mobilize.us/ourrevolution/event/269476/?followup_modal_context=newsletter for the meeting on Sat., Oct. 17 from 2:30 to 4:30 PM.

96] – The deadline is 2030. If we want even a chance of avoiding catastrophic runaway climate chaos, then that is the year by which we need to cut global emissions by half. Four more years of Trump will mean we have next to no chance of meeting that deadline, at which point the future of organized human society would be in severe peril. The #VoteTrumpOut campaign is contacting thousands of swing voters on Facebook every day, and your help is needed.  Volunteer Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with the Digital Canvass team, and help flip a crucial swing state! Everyone who can should be giving time to help save our planet from this aspiring tyrant. Sign up here to get started: https://www.mobilize.us/unitedagainsttrump/event/329042/.  Take a slot on Sat., Oct. 17 from 3 to 4 PM ET or 4 to 5 PM ET.

97] – Another Get out the Vote Call-A-Thon is happening organized by an Indivisible team. Make calls to voters in key states -- and have a lot of fun doing it together! Register here at https://indivisible.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJYuf-yspzkoHdMSEPuMQgoEQnsvvEISITMs?utm_source=email&utm_medium=GOTV1_20201005.

Dave has written a book "For All the Saints- a Protest Primer"- documenting the Baltimore Four action and many others up to and including the most recent Plowshares action – Kings Bay Plowshares 7.  Phil Berrigan’s wife, Elizabeth McAlister, is a member of the Kings Bay Plowshares 7.  Dave’s book is available for $20 by contacting him at mozela9@comcast.net. He prefers that you DO NOT order the book from Amazon.

99] –  Ted Glick has written a book about his years of active draft resistance during the Vietnam War, and published by PM Press! It’s entitled “Burglar for Peace: Lessons Learned in the Catholic Left’s Resistance to the Vietnam War. The book is part history, part autobiography and may be a valuable source of ideas and inspiration for today’s organizers against injustice, oppression, war, ecological devastation and the bad guys! Frida Berrigan has written a wonderful intro. The paperback book, all 220 or so pages, will cost $20, but if you order it now, you can get a 20% discount if you use the code “Burglar” when you do so.  Go to: https://www.pmpress.org/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1093 and click 'Add to Cart'. Go to www.fredlpincus.com.

101] –Two books by Fred Wilcox are still in print.  The first one is “Fighting the Lamb's War Skirmishes with the American Empire” by Philip Berrigan and Fred A. Wilcox with a FOREWORD by Tripp York.  It can be purchased by Wipf and Stock: https://wipfandstock.com/fighting-the-lamb-s-war.html.  It is a Memoir in paperback/ISBN: 9781532660078/240 pages/republished 8/21/2018/ Retail Price: $26.00/and Web Price: $20.80.

He is doing primary care as well as rheumatologic care (focusing on joint problems and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and sjogren's).  He is offering telemedicine visits, and he has very reasonable rates for uninsured individuals.  He makes use of herbs (which can be sent directly to patients from the herbal dispensary) as well as prescribing medications to their local pharmacy if needed.

104] – The Trump Administration is again beating the war drums.  Most recently, the target is Iran.  Should the Trump administration initiate an act of war against Iran, consider joining us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump Administration to attack a country that has not attacked us, as only Congress can declare war. The Trump administration is nevertheless beating the war drums for war against Iran and Venezuela. Should a war criminal, John Bolton, convince Trump to attack either of these countries, such a military strike would demand an immediate and unequivocal response from us to show that we will not tolerate his abuse of power.

Let's mobilize to show that we the people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and N. Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time, the following day. Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

105] -- If you would like to get rid of books, videos, DVDs, records, tarps and table cloths, contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

106] -- Can you use any book shelves? Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski2001 at comcast.net.

107] -- Join an extraordinary global campaign for the elimination of nuclear weapons: http://www.globalzero.org/sign-declaration. A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of nuclear weapons and a majority of the global public agrees.  This is an historic window of opportunity.  With momentum already building in favor of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

108] – A Peace Park Antinuclear Vigil takes place every day in Lafayette Park, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 24 hours a day, since June 3, 1981. Go to http://prop1.org; call 202-682-4282.

Donations can be sent to Max Obuszewski, Baltimore Nonviolence Center, 431 Notre Dame Lane, Apt. 206, Baltimore, MD 21212.  Ph: 410-323-1607; Email: mobuszewski2001 [at] comcast.net. Go to http://baltimorenonviolencecenter.blogspot.com/.

“One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
