55] – Research Associates Foundation invites you to a Summer Celebration on Sun., June 5 from 2 to 5 PM at 2640 St. Paul St. (St. John's Church).  RAF has completed another round of small-scale community grants program, and four groups working to change the face of social and political life in Baltimore are recipients--Baltimore Green Currency Association, Communities United, Baltimore Racial Justice Action, and the United Workers Association.  The celrbration will be hosted by Red Emma's, and there will be refreshments and music provided by Ryan Harvey!  Email rafbaltimore@gmail.com.

57] – On Sun., June 5 at 8 PM, see a screening of Cultures of Resistance, a film described as "a resistance travelogue on art & creativity as ammunition in the battle for peace and justice." Directed by Iara Lee, the film highlights the work of artists, musicians, and dancers throughout the world who are working for peace and justice, and are re-conceiving resistance as a fundamentally creative act, and can be seen at Busboys and Poets, 5th & K Sts., WDC.

63] – Fund Our Communities campaign – is a new grass roots movement to get support from local organizations and communities to work together with their local and state elected officials to pressure Congresspersons and senators to join with Congresspersons Barney Frank and Ron Paul, who have endorsed a 25% cut to the federal military budget.  Bring home the savings to state and county governments to meet the local needs which are under tremendous budget pressures.  Go to www.OurFunds.org.

65] – Skippy and Jordy are cats who need homes.  A mother of too many cats writes "Skippy is a doll. He's a great guy and would be a good companion for someone. Jordy needs a special person who is experienced with cats and is willing to take the time to develop a bond with him.  He's close to his mother, his rescuer, but no one else.  He is gorgeous, with a beautiful long black silky coat. 67] – There is a project to assist young refugees from Haiti, now residing in the Dominican Republic.  The founder of the project needs funding to providing education to the youth as a way out of desperate poverty.  Try to imagine the poverty in Haiti, and then realize that these young refugees are considered low caste in the Dominican Republic. We are talking about the poorest of the poor.  Consider making a small donation, and realize that most pledges to Haiti to assist hurricane victims have not been sent.  To maintain a web site presence at Global Giving, there must be traffic.  So help out with this extremely worthy cause. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.
