18] – There is usually a vigil to abolish the death penalty every Monday from 5 to 6 PM, outside the prison complex and across the street from Maryland’s death row, at the corner of Madison Ave. and Fallsway in Baltimore.  The next vigil is scheduled for Mon., Apr. 27.  Call 410-233-0488.

19] – Chesa Boudin will read from his new book on Mon., Apr. 27 at 7 PM at Red Emma's, 800 St. Paul St. The son of imprisoned Weather Underground parents and raised by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, Boudin traveled through Latin America for eight years.  His odyssey is detailed in GRINGO: A Coming-of-Age in Latin America (Scribner; April 14, 2009; $25.00).

20] – Baltimore United for Peace and Justice will meet at 7 PM on Mon., Apr. 27 at the AFSC, 4806 York Road. The BUPJ agenda will include deficit spending on the bus to New York City and May 15 activities.   As this meeting ends, the Pledge meeting will begin.

21] – The Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore usually meets on Mondays at 7:30 PM at the AFSC, 4806 York Road [three blocks north of Coldspring Lane].  The next meeting will be Apr. 27, and the agenda will include the lobbying effort to call for investigation of those who ordered the torturing, a Witness Against Torture protest and Earth Day. 22] – On Tues., Apr, 28 at 4 PM, Amb. Jayantha Dhanapala and Paolo Cotta-Ramusino, Pugwash Conferences will engage in a "Conversation on the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and Current Efforts to Eliminate Nuclear Weapons" at Stimson Center, 1111 19th St., NW, 12th Floor, WDC. 23] – There is a vigil to say "War Is Not the Answer" each Tuesday since September 11, 2001 at 4806 York Road. Join this ongoing vigil.  The next vigil is Apr. 28 from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  Call Max at 410-366-1637.

24] – There is a meeting of Ecolocity DC every Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM at the EMERGENCE COMMUNITY ARTS COLLECTIVE, 733 Euclid St. NW, WDC 20001.  It is for people who live in, or are interested in making D.C. a transition town starting with an intentional community that will encompass clean energy, freecycle, natural building, organic farming, community salvage, new urbanism, etc. The next meeting will be on Apr. 28. 26] – Each Wednesday from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, the House of Grace Catholic Worker holds a weekly vigil for peace in Iraq outside the Phila. Federal Building, 6th & Market Sts. The next vigil is Apr. 29. Call 215-426-0364.

27] – Each Wednesday in clear weather, there is a peace vigil from 5 to 6 PM outside the Unitarian Society of Germantown, 6511 Lincoln Drive (between Wayne & Hortter) in West Mount Airy, PA. The next vigil is Apr. 29. Call 215-843-4256 or email nwgreens@yahoo.com.

28] – On Wed., Apr. 29 at 12:30 PM at the Nat’l City Christian Church, 5 Thomas Circle NW, the Christian Peace Witness Iraq will prepare for direct action.  One of the speakers will be Kathy Kelly.  Go to www.christianpeacewitness.org. At 7 PM, there will be worship before doing a procession to the White House.  The speakers will include Dan Berrigan and Liz McAlister.

30] – On Wed., Apr. 29 at 7 PM, participate in the Women in Afghanistan event at the Catonsville Public Library, 1100 Frederick Rd, Catonsville.  It is hosted by the Friends of the Library and the Mount DeSales Academy Int'l Awareness Club, and will include a film screening, panel discussion, crafts and food. Participants are internationally renowned filmmaker Kathleen Foster, Women for Afghan Women activist Fahima Vorgetts and UMBC professor and author of the book, With All Our Strength: The Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, Dr. Anne Brodsky. 31] – Jim Wallis, author of The Great Awakening: Reviving Faith and Politics in a Post-Religious Right America, is speaking on Thurs., Apr. 30 at Loving Thy Neighbor: Barriers and Breakthroughs in the D.C. Metroplex. This symposium is co-sponsored by the Christian Community Development Association and the D.C. campus of Nyack College. Participants will have the opportunity to attend cutting-edge workshops with a diverse group of churches and community development organizations addressing poverty in the Washington, D.C. area.

33] – Lydia Wylie-Kellerman is urging you to come to D.C. on Thurs., Apr. 30th – 100th day action.  Be at the Capitol Reflecting Pool at 10 AM before joining a procession in orange jumpsuits and nonviolent direct action at the White House.  The action will occur at 12:15 PM.
