40] –   On Thursday, Dec. 7, Janice and Max will get on the road on behalf of the suffering Palestinians.  We will deliver letters in the form of placards to Janice’s rep, Dutch Ruppersberger, at his Padonia Road office, to the Baltimore office of my rep, Kweisi Mfume, and a final one at the building on Charles Street where Sen. Ben Cardin has an office.  We will make it clear that war crimes are being committed in the Gaza Strip by a government supported with US tax dollars, and that our legislators must speak out for a permanent cease fire or be complicit “as hospitals are turned into morgues and ruins.”  At each stop, we will ask that the placard be displayed in each of the offices.  If you want your signature on the placard, let us know ASAP. Please note that according to CODEPINK, sixty House members have called for a ceasefire, including Reps. Mfume and Raskin, and four senators. The placard that we will deliver to Rep. Mfume’s office will thank him for supporting a Ceasefire.  Contact Max at 443-761-5899 or mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

41] –Beyond Extreme Energy [info@beyondextremeenergy.org] is urging you on Thurs., Dec. 7 at noon ET to join the first of a four part series on how to become a ratepayer advocate. RSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMtfuqoqDsvEtAgy0WEbiUl2fcnvJKrLvsi?link_id=2&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-ready-to-get-local-with-the-fight-to-move-beyond-extreme-energy-2&email_referrer=email_2134104&email_subject=dont-forget-to-rsvp-for-our-thursday-webinar#/registration

Hear from BXE and regulatory expert Nancy LaPlaca and unpack Duke Energy Carolina's (DEC's) fuel docket in four one-hour webinars. Why the fuel docket? Because Duke's much-criticized rush to build more gas plants is dependent on fuel to keep those plants going. DEC (and DEP) are planning to run these fossil gas plants for 30 years, but how much pollution will that create, and how much risk to ratepayers for increasingly volatile gas costs? Duke Energy conveniently ignores the enormous effect that fossil gas has on our climate, a stunning 86 times worse than CO2 emissions from coal power. Learn about how a docket works: how to intervene, and what to look for in sometimes-voluminous filings. Learn how to make a difference on critical policy issues that will affect our future, our climate, good local clean energy jobs, reduce air and water pollution, and our pocketbooks.

42] – The Congressional Progressive Caucus Center [info@progressivecaucuscenter.org] is meeting on Thurs., Dec. 7 at 3 PM ET.  State legislators have a critical role in ensuring that federal funding reaches the communities that need it most. Thanks to Direct Pay tax credits, tax-exempt entities can receive federal funding for building clean energy projects but need help from state lawmakers! State champions can use state funding and state policymaking tools to help eligible entities take full advantage of Direct Pay and ultimately expand publicly-owned clean energy. Join the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center and State Innovation Exchange to learn how state lawmakers can lead the way and help communities seize this opportunity.
