41] – Adam Russell
Taylor, Sojourners [sojourners@sojo.net] on Wed., March 12 at noon is inviting
you to join a Capitol Witness to speak truth to power! Sojourners, the Washington
Interfaith Staff Community (WICS), and dozens of other partners invite you to
join the launch of a Faithful Wednesday Witness, a weekly multi-faith vigil at
the U.S. Capitol. The first gathering is at the Senate East Front, Grassy Area
8 (bounded by Constitution Ave. NE, First St NE, Northeast Dr. and the East
Front Plaza). Vigils will continue every Wednesday throughout March—12, 19
& 26. Our nation faces an escalating constitutional crisis fueled by the
Trump administration’s overreach and unconstitutional actions. A lack of
leadership in Congress has allowed this crisis to grow, as it cedes its role as
a co-equal branch of government. The faith community has a unique opportunity
to raise a prophetic and pastoral call, urging Congressional leaders to act.
These nonpartisan vigils will remain nonpartisan while speaking truth to power,
highlighting what’s at stake and the communities already affected. They will
feature faith leaders from diverse traditions offering inspirational prayers,
reflections, and calls to faithful action. RSVP at https://act.sojo.net/page/79871/survey/1?ea.tracking.id=email
42] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide. A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action, Monday through Friday, for the past year. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Wed., March 12 & Thurs., March 13. 43] – Genocide is the Crime! That was the theme during Ellen Grady’s trial on Wed., Feb. 26 in the Syracuse Federal Building on two charges stemming from an action calling for the US to stop funding genocide on November 15, 2024. After a six-and-a-half-hour trial, the judge found Ellen guilty. She will be sentenced on Wed., March 12 at 3 PM ET. The maximum sentence could be up to 60 days in jail and up to a $10,000 fine for both charges. During Ellen’s opening statement at trial. She introduced Hind Rajab into the courtroom. Call Mary Anne Grady at 1-607-280-8797.
Hind was the last person from her family that was alive when she called for help. After twelve days, a member of Hind’s family way allowed into the area. The scene was absolute carnage. The two bodies of the paramedics were charred and the ambulance decimated, crushed with a 122 mm US shell found within the remains (the same weaponry that the Joint Resolutions of Disapproval bill would have prevented being sold to Israel). Fifty yards away the bullet-riddled black KIA had 335 bullets holes and the bodies of Hind, Layann, Layann's father, mother and 3 siblings were decaying.

47] – It's time for the climate movement to play offense against Big Oil and the Trump regime. Big Oil CEOs are raking in billions destroying our planet, while we have to pay to rebuild. That’s not right. Companies like Exxon, Shell, and Chevron should be financially responsible for the damage they’re causing. The Make Polluters Pay campaign lets you play offense. States across the country are coming together to create Climate Superfunds that would fine polluters and fund our communities. These Climate Superfunds would take money from polluters and use it to build the infrastructure we need to protect our communities from the next climate disaster. Join the Make Polluters Pay National Strategy Call on March 12 at 8 PM ET to plug into the campaign to make polluters pay. Register at https://actionnetwork.org/events/make-polluters-pay-national-call?source=climatedefendersemail&emci=97e18f22-c7f3-ef11-90cb-0022482a94f4&emdi=b3a5a529-9df4-ef11-90cb-0022482a94f4&ceid=723654
48] – Scarcity shows up in many forms in all of our lives. The war economy creates the impetus to work all the time, monetize our creativity, and mine our relationships with each other through competition for resources. Nowhere is this more apparent than in our relationship to time. Throughout history, time has been used by those in power to control and dictate how and with whom we spent our precious lives. Contact Marie · marie@codepink.org. Join CODEPINK to dissect the interplay between the war economy and the experience of time, and how the peace economy gives us back a sense of abundance and fulfillment in our lives. On Wed., March 12 at 8 PM ET. Join in by Zoom: https://www.codepink.org/lpe0312?utm_campaign=march_iwwd_member_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=codepink
