31] – Ingrid Monkiewicz <milarxad@yahoo.com> would like you to see Wed., Feb. 5 at noon for the Pope Francis, Go to GAZA rally at 3339 Massachusetts Ave. NW, WC 20008. Come to the Vatican Embassy, but please remember that the purpose is to move the Pope to take a decisive stand.  Unless you have a friend in the Vatican, letters and phone calls to the Nuncio are the best avenue. Contact Cardinal Christophe Pierre at 202-333-7121/phone, nuntiususa@nuntiususa.org or 202-337-4036/fax.

32] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide.  A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action, Monday through Friday, for the past year. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Wed., Feb. 5 through Fri., Feb. 7.  Visit https://jvp-org.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Un0Lupy1SFObVVXJaZO5UQ?_x_zm_rtaid=8L0JUS3pQkenMGtx9ha3mQ.1732760660364.03949df73aedc7035fc618f76c52fc75&_x_zm_rhtaid=249#/registration

Join CODEPINK staffer Jasmine Butler and journalist Abby Martin as they lead a training on media literacy for those looking to critically consume the news.  RSVP at https://www.codepink.org/medialiteracy?utm_campaign=media_literacy_invite&utm_medium=email&utm_source=codepink

34] –People's Action [info@peoplesaction.org] on Wed., Feb. 5 from 6 to 9 PM ET will hold its second Fundamentals of Organizing Training: Build Power & Community. These trainings delve into building power and engaging in deep relational organizing. At People’s Action, the group believes that creating an Organizing Revival requires developing strong, authentic connections within our communities. Trainers from across the country—West Coast to East Coast—will share how they build power on the municipal level. This is your opportunity to learn how to advance power in the public arena. True power comes through unity—but that can only happen when we have intentional conversations and build deep relationships to strengthen our organizations for the long term.  REGISTER at https://www.mobilize.us/peoplesaction/event/747186/?link_id=2&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-join-our-two-day-fundamentals-of-organizing-build-power-community&email_referrer=email_2572660&email_subject=join-our-two-day-fundamentals-of-organizing-training-build-power-community

35] – On Wed., Feb. 5 at 6:30 PM ET and at 8:30 PM ET, the Working Families Party will hold a virtual event. As we all begin to gear up for 2025 and the longer fight we have ahead of us, one of the most critical ways in which we build power for and with the multi-racial working class is running campaigns that win with working class candidates and skilled campaign staff. Has the thought crossed your mind to run for office? Do you know someone who you would love to vote for one day? If so, join WFP for Working Folks Win! a two-part training series to cover the basics of running for office, how to scout out and support potential candidates for campaigns, and the ways that WFP does this work brick-by-brick, election-to-election. Sign up for just one time.  RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/748774/?followup_modal_context=nonexclusive_newsletter_most_popular_virtual

36] –People's Action [hello@peoplesaction.org] on Wed., Feb. 5 at 7 PM ET will hold a Teach-In! This week, President Trump—along with his billionaire buddies—made an unconstitutional attempt to block funding that helps working people afford housing, health care, education, and clean energy. This is a huge deal, and it's a blatant power grab at the expense of people who need it the most. This money was designated by Congress to help local governments and nonprofits provide housing assistance, health care, education, and a clean and healthy environment to ensure that everyday people thrive. On Monday night, with the stroke of a pen, Trump and his billionaire backers tried to rob people to make room for more tax cuts for billionaires and corporations.

We know that Trump and the Republicans in Congress are preparing a budget bill that slashes these programs to offset the cost of tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. At the teach-in, dive deep into the impact of these dangerous cuts and how we can push back together. This teach-in will focus on Republicans’ attempts to deliver their biggest handout to billionaires and corporations, all while gutting funding for critical services. 37] –GW Institute for Korean Studies [gwiks@gwu.edu] on Wed., Feb. 5 at 7 PM ET is holding a virtual forum Citizen Activism in the Wake of Korea’s Martial Law Declaration.  Over the past two months, South Korean citizens have taken to the streets in large numbers to defend democracy. Some rallied despite the midnight cold following President Yoon Suk-yeol's declaration of martial law and sustained peaceful rallies that contributed to Yoon's impeachment. Others also mobilized to show their support for Yoon and protest his detention. This Korea Policy Forum adopts an innovative format by bringing together professors and students whose participant observation of this most recent wave of activism gave them front-row seats in this significant political moment in Korea. The speakers will discuss issue framings that mobilized citizens, cross-generational solidarity, activists' tactics (both classic and novel), the organizations and professionals who facilitated mobilization, media coverage, and the social and political impact of citizens' activism.  RSVP at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/citizen-activism-in-the-wake-of-koreas-martial-law-declaration-tickets-1216726855779?aff=oddtdtcreator

38] –On Wed., Feb. 5 from 8 to 9 PM ET, People Power United is doing a virtual Rapid Response for Our Freedoms: Stop Project 2025. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/747339/?followup_modal_context=nonexclusive_newsletter_closest

Are you alarmed by the far-right’s relentless push to dismantle our democracy and undermine our future? The time to act is now—your voice and your involvement are vital in this critical moment. Together, we have the power to resist this dangerous agenda that seeks to replace our democracy with authoritarian rule. By organizing, mobilizing, and holding leaders accountable, we can protect the rights, freedoms, and values that define America. Stand as one to defend democracy, uphold the rule of law, and safeguard the rights and freedoms we all hold dear. This is our moment to rise up for an America that includes everyone when we say "liberty and justice for all," not just the wealthy and powerful. This event will also take place on Wed., March 5 from 8 to 9 PM EST

39] –Join CODEPINK for a War Is Not Green community meeting. When it comes to climate, the US war machine is the elephant in the room as the #1 institutional polluter in the world and with over 800 toxic bases around the world. To fight climate change, we need to demilitarize, end wars and US imperialism, free Palestine, facilitate the repatriation of Indigenous land, and get the mainstream environmental movement to join us along the way. The world's climate movement must hold anti-militarism as a core pillar! Educate each other and grow our capacity for an anti-militarist, internationalist, and feminist environmental movement on Wed., Feb. 5 from 8:15 to 9:15 EST.
