55] – The GW Institute for Korean Studies [gwiks@gwu.edu] on Fri., Nov. 15 at 11 AM is hosting a hybrid Korea Policy Forum: a Special Lecture with former Foreign Minister Park Jin in Lindner Commons, Room 602.  In the wake of the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, both the United States and the Republic of Korea anticipate significant shifts in the political landscape. While both nations remain committed to upholding the principles, policies, and spirit established at Camp David, it is important to consider the evolving perspectives on their bilateral relationship, as well as the trajectory of trilateral alliances.   The County Board is moving forward with a vote that could lead to dangerous profiling and, subsequently, deportations of our neighbors. Pressure the Board to delay the vote to December, and consider community recommendations regarding their proposed changes to the Trust Policy. Given the political climate and recent elections, this is a critical moment to push for policies that protect—not endanger—our neighbors. A second meeting will take place on Sat., Dec. 14.

64] – The Metro DC DSA will hold a virtual 2024 Election Debrief & Campaigns Fair called Fight the Right, Build the Left on Sat., Nov. 16 from 1 to 3 PM ET.  In the face of rising fascism and the looming Donald Trump presidency, we must continue to build an organized, working-class movement to fight back. The DSA fights against corporations, imperialism, and fascism and organizing for dignified housing for all, a thriving democracy, power in the workplace, a Green New Deal, immigrant justice, socialist candidates for office, and more. It needs all hands on deck to continue the fight for that future as it navigate the next presidential administration. Unpack and reflect on the results, discuss the impact the Trump administration will have on the DMV and DSA in general, and learn about specific campaigns. After the event, DSA organizers will be tabling for different campaigns and will be available to talk more about how to get involved. Join comrades in this anti-eviction canvas! Come out and inform tenants facing eviction of their rights in court, how to get a lawyer, and to see if they're interested in organizing their building. Speak to tenants, who are then twice as likely to go to court and fight their eviction, so every volunteer can make a big impact. At 1:30 PM get a short training to explain why these canvasses are necessary, how to talk to tenants about their upcoming eviction suits, and how to fill in walk-sheets. You will be set up with a partner. If you have a car, please drive it down to the meeting spot! Cars are helpful for getting canvassers to metro-inaccessible areas. Following the canvass, the crew will meet at Sonny’s Pizza in Park View to debrief and socialize.

70] – David Eberhardt was a member of the Baltimore Four with Father Philip Berrigan, Tom Lewis and Rev. James Mengel.  The group poured blood on draft files on October 27, 1967.  They would be convicted and sentenced to prison.

He has written a book "For All the Saints- a Protest Primer"- documenting the Baltimore Four action and many others up to and including the most recent Plowshares action – Kings Bay Plowshares 7.  Dave printed new copies of For All the Saints, a Protest Primer- 250+ pp w photos-therefore #'s 351-400 making it o so collectable with two Berrigan book reviews added. Prevent Nuclear War/Maryland has called attention to the growing danger of nuclear war and the outrageous $1.7 trillion dollars we are spending to upgrade the nuclear arsenal. On July 18, 2017, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, a U.S. Navy - affiliated research center received a seven-year, $92 million contract to continue its systems engineering and research-and-development services for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center. Help convince JHU to renounce nuclear weapons contracts. It is called East-West Medicine and Rheumatology, and its website is EastWestMD.com.  Yousef is licensed in Maryland and Virginia. He is doing primary care as well as rheumatologic care (focusing on joint problems and autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and sjogren's).  He is offering telemedicine visits, and he has very reasonable rates for uninsured individuals.  He makes use of herbs (which can be sent directly to patients from the herbal dispensary) as well as prescribing medications to their local pharmacy if needed.
