32] – Just Peace Advocates [info@justpeaceadvocates.ca] on Thurs., Nov. 21 at 11 AM will hold a virtual event -- Students over Donor Money: the suppression of Palestine solidarity at McGill University and beyond.  Rock legend Roger Waters will be participating in this timely webinar. Thirty student associations representing over 50,000 students across Quebec have voted to strike on Thursday and Friday in support of Palestine. The strike is calling for their institutions to sever all ties with Israel. In support of this historic display of international solidarity, including the closure of Quebec’s largest college, JPA is pleased to be co-hosting this virtual event.

McGill’s administration recently asked the court to ban all demonstrations on campus and forced the student union to suspend the group Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights. In a Canadian Jewish News interview billionaire McGill donor Sylvan Adams details how Zionist donors are pushing the administration for even more repression. In the interview Adams also attacks Waters and describes a bizarre “fantasy” to reunite Pink Floyd to promote Israel, prompting Waters to pen an op-ed rebuttal and letter to the McGill president in support of students opposing genocide. Sylvan Adams responded to Waters' criticism that he was using his wealth to push McGill to repress students, spurring reports in the National Post, Israel News and Jerusalem Post.  Register for the webinar. https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_mZ1LBSXvS5egDTNBWgFwTg#/registration?link_id=21&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-students-over-donor-money&email_referrer=email_2536977&email_subject=tomorrow-virtual-event-students-over-donor-money-the-suppression-of-palestine-solidarity-at-mcgill-university-and-beyond

33] – The trial began in D.C. Superior Court at 2:30 PM ET on November 18.  The government presented a very weak case, and the defense made a motion for judgment of acquittal.  Despite her many reservations, the judge ruled in favor of the government.  Nevertheless, there was no evidence to convict Janice Sevre-Duszynska as her arresting officer was not present when the alleged “crime took place.”  I began my testimony, and was surprised that I could state that genocide is taking place in Gaza, and that my government is complicit. On November 21 at noon in D.C. Superior Court, Courtroom 310, 500 Indiana Ave. NW, WDC 20001, the trial will continue with me on the witness stand. A complete update will follow the conclusion of the trial. Contact Max at mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net.

It must be noted that the arrest took place on April 9, and there were numerous appearances in court over the last several months.  Why did the government continue to prosecute two peace activists?  There is a speedy trial rule which states that a defendant must be tried within six months of the arrest.  We never raised the six-month rule, as we wanted to denounce US complicity in war crimes.  We hope that we will continue to excoriate the Biden administration on Thursday.

34] – Netroots Nation [activist@netrootsnation.org] on Thurs., Nov. 21 at 3 PM ET will have a discussion Goodbye Twitter, Hello Bluesky. Netroots Nation believes in the need to revisit how and where we organize, especially online.  Progressives, reporters and elected Democrats are leaving Musk's mouthpiece, Twitter. More than 7 million people have joined the social media app Bluesky since the election. By November 17, the Bluesky community was over 19 million strong.  Join Netroots and New Media Mentors for The Twitter eXit and the Bluesky Era. Bluesky is a B-corp–meaning it is mission-driven and adheres to a higher standard of corporate ethics with no oligarchs or algorithms controlling it. In short, the verdict from tech press like Ryan Broderick is, “Bluesky is the new Twitter, Probably.” This free panel from New Media Mentors features social media experts from the worlds of politics, labor and advocacy. Learn how progressives are using Bluesky and why we chose Bluesky over other options. Then participate in a brief orientation to the social media network. RSVP at  https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Eg_uJaTSQtqX-KcqZGXNRw?link_id=2&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-bye-bye-twitter-hello-bluesky-3&email_referrer=email_2533831&email_subject=goodbye-twitter-hello-bluesky#/registration

35] – The Union of Concerned Scientists [action@ucsusa.org] on Thurs., Nov.  21 at 3 PM ET will hold a post-election debrief: Opportunities for science advocacy. Engagement doesn’t stop after Election Day. Join the webinar to learn about next steps for scientists and science advocates like you. The second Trump administration will be hostile to science and to the evidence-based solutions we need to protect public health and reduce the impacts of climate change. We are going to need scientists and science advocates to stay vigilant to hold our decision-makers accountable and protect against attacks on science. REGISTER at https://secure.ucsusa.org/a/2024-11-21-debrief-post-election-advocacy?contactdata=qT6sQ6pkb7whB1zLQapEjrFezSO+Fg6xCCXO7F8yfEJcRYLkHHl2nBJQKqVSHVEn4vG6Ux46lrIiA2FEHBshkOUEdwB1qh6BuAhejNKRAKFL%2fHqNaXakVHoya8FcPjA9TwXNYK%2f45GKQ+44NFIyn1MVtqXG2YheX4N1orO8SGo%2fSiza57SZMMaCP4kl69463STyuE6ZpepRw3c%2fRy1I+96AbKTG74+qBgwNFR7Y0hifFcaqpt74sc3QnhPLEoIYaD8+twXMfan2yBYHhHvAVaA%3d%3d&utm_campaign=email&utm_medium=email&utm_source=email&emci=239693bd-2b9d-ef11-88ce-000d3a98fa6b&emdi=279c040e-549d-ef11-88ce-000d3a98fa6b&ceid=1507036

36] – Trade Justice [hillary@tradejusticeedfund.org] is holding a Special Briefing: Where is trade policy headed under Trump? It will take place on Thurs., Nov. 21 3 PM ET as a Trade Justice Power Hour briefing to hear from Lori Wallach of Rethink Trade and Arthur Stamoulis of the Trade Justice Education Fund about trade issues on the immediate horizon when President-elect Trump takes office — from potential tariff increases to renegotiation of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (aka, “Trump’s NAFTA”). RSVP at https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Dk9_1GHxT0qBi7QiJjcpkQ#/registration?link_id=3&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-today-trade-justice-power-hour-stopping-big-techs-digital-trade-attack-on-state-law-2&email_referrer=email_2530312&email_subject=special-briefing-where-is-trade-policy-headed-under-trump

As part of the briefing, you will hear about the importance of pushing for alternatives to both the business-as-usual, corporate-driven “free trade” neoliberalism that has failed our communities and the corporate-driven “America first” nationalism that stokes hatred while offering only false solutions.

37] – Abraham Bonowitz // Death Penalty Action [info@deathpenaltyaction.org] wants you to know that Carey Grayson is scheduled for execution via nitrogen gas asphyxiation (suffocation) in Alabama on November 21, 2024 for the 1994 murder of Vicki DeBlieux. Please call Governor Ivey at 334-242-7100 to ask her to halt the execution of Carey Grayson.  If the execution is not halted, join Death Penalty Action, Project Hope to Abolish the Death Penalty and a variety of experts and special guests at 6 PM ET for an informative and prayerful vigil to protest the execution. Register to be a part of the live audience, or watch on the Death Penalty Action  Facebook, X (Twitter), and YouTube platforms:  https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ThiRJYboSwyBN0bRd8p2kQ#/registration?link_id=2&can_id=4b9d4061aec5469758759317ac0f5285&source=email-call-governor-ivey-today-all-week-5&email_referrer=email_2534923&email_subject=call-governor-ivey-today-all-week

22] – CODEPINK [info@codepink.org] on Tues., Nov. 19 at 8 PM will get involved with Palestine Laboratory & Drop the ADL.  Chat with peacemakers and experts on Zoom: https://www.codepink.org/cpc1119?utm_campaign=codepink_congress_11_19&utm_medium=email&utm_source=codepink

Israel's genocide in Gaza and occupation of Palestine furnishes Israel with a ghoulish laboratory for testing weapons and surveillance technology that can be exported around the world to despots and so-called democracies.  One of Israel’s high-tech tools is based on mobile phone tracking to monitor the evacuation of Palestinians from parts of northern Gaza. Another, which the military calls “The Gospel,” generates lists of buildings to be bombed. Still another–“Lavender” assigns ratings to people in Gaza to label them as military targets.  The Orwellian software “Where’s Daddy?” purports to determine a target's location.

Meanwhile, Israeli lobby groups infiltrate our schools to erase Palestine in the classroom while indoctrinating our students to conflate antisemitism with anti-Zionism. Lobbyists like the Anti-Defamation League create their own laboratory in class when they peddle lesson plans defining antisemitism as bias against Israel or encourage students to track hate incidents, with criticism of Israel as a racist endeavor considered an anti-Semitic incident.
