38] – Alan Minsky for Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] indicates that on Wed., Oct. 4 at 4 PM there will be a policy briefing How the Rural New Deal Can Transform National Politics and Support Strong Rural Communities. On September 12th, the Rural Urban Bridge Initiative and Progressive Democrats of America jointly released the Rural New Deal, a wide-ranging template for transformative federal action that would spur investment in bottom-up approaches to building rural prosperity and turn back corporate concentration and control. While the Rural New Deal is broad in scope, it is grounded in community-based strategies that work. 39] -- Food & Water Watch [act@messages.fwaction.org] indicates that the Baltimore Regional Water Governance Task Force will be deciding which new entity it recommends to take over operation of the Baltimore water system on Wed., Oct. 4 at 6 PM ET. There is concern the task force may vote to consider privatized models, which involve putting a corporation in charge of a critical public utility. Privatized systems generally result in higher rates and lack of accountability to ratepayers.
