55] – The Enoch Pratt Free Library, Central Library, 400 Cathedral St., hosts an exhibit Learning, Listening, Leading: BUILD's 35 Years of Organizing in Baltimore City, which documents the achievements of BUILD, featuring the leaders who made these changes possible, from Thurs., Apr. 25 through Sat., Aug. 31. Call 410-396-5430. Go to http://www.prattlibrary.org/locations/central.

56] – From Thurs., Apr. 25 through Sat., April 27, noon to 2 PM, at 34th & Walnut Sts, University City/West Phila., PA 19104, protest UPenn Drone Research during Penn Relays! UPenn, along with other prominent universities - John Hopkins, MIT, Stanford, Drexel - are doing drone research, and receive millions each year in Pentagon dollars. About 21% of UPenn's School of Engineering budget comes from the Department of War. UPenn's GRASP (General Robotics, Automation, Sensing and Perception) Lab received $11 million in 2011. The work of the GRASP lab needs to be held accountable for the uses of its research in order to reign in this era of drone warfare and spying. Go to www.brandywinepeace.com.

57] – Silent No More- March on the Lobbyists on Thurs., Apr. 25 from noon to 1:30 PM starting at McPherson Square. Join a coalition of progressive organizations, anti-gun violence advocates and activists at a news conference in McPherson Square to call out the lobbyists for the gun industry by name. Name them, shame them, and then march on to their K Street offices. After this week's failed vote in the Senate, voices need to be heard, put people out on the street, and show anger. Democracy should not be sold to the highest bidder. Visit https://www.facebook.com/events/471504679589898/.

58] – In March, 127 nations assembled in Oslo for a historic conference that sought to address the humanitarian threats of the use of nuclear weapons. The analysis of the impacts of nuclear weapon detonations, the medical and environmental consequences, and the impossibility of providing adequate emergency relief in the aftermath, pushed the assembled nations to look into pursuing a new path towards nuclear abolition. Join a webinar, with activists from around the world, to discuss the Oslo meeting and the 2013 campaign that wins popular support for a world free of nuclear weapons.

Register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/1775692936315811328. The webinar will take place on Thurs., Apr. 25 from 3 to 3:45 PM Eastern Standard Time. This Physicians for Social Responsibility webinar will provide you a sense of the work being done globally on this important cause, ways for you to make a difference in your local community, and resources to use in reaching out to people.

59] – See the film "Besa: The Promise" on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 5 PM at Georgetown Univ., Hotel & Conference Center. The film tells the never-before-told story of the Muslims of Nazi-occupied Albania who saved the lives of thousands of Jews during World War II. It’s witnessed through the prism of two men joined together in a remarkable and unexpected quest: Norman H. Gershman, a renowned Jewish-American photographer determined to record the bravery and compassion of the Albanians; and Rexhep Hoxha, a Muslim-Albanian toy shop owner who sets out to return three precious books to the last surviving member of the Jewish family his father sheltered sixty years before. When these two men meet, an extraordinary and utterly unexpected personal drama is set in motion–one that bridges generations and religions…uniting fathers and sons…Muslims and Jews. Go to http://acmcu.georgetown.edu/.

60] – ISlave: Foxconn Workers Struggle in China will be discussed on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 5:30 PM at McShain Lounge, Georgetown Univ. Join the Georgetown Solidarity Committee and the IWW for a talk about the labor problems facing Foxconn workers in China and what they're doing to fight it. This is part of the talking tour around the United States. Foxconn employs more than one million people in China alone. As the world's largest contract manufacturer, it works for Apple and many other electronics brands. Foxconn workers are the iSlaves who face horrendous conditions while producing communication tools like iPhones and iPads.

In 2012, a series of worker suicides shook the Chinese Foxconn factories and drew world-wide attention. Management promised to improve conditions and increase wages, but the situation has not changed much since; Foxconn accelerated the relocation of factories to the Chinese hinterland, employs student interns as "cheap" labor, covers up work accidents, and still relies on its militaristic management regime. Foxconn workers have used everyday forms of resistance against the rhythm of the assembly line and have been able to stage strikes in various Foxconn factories around China. This talk is based on gongchao.org's collective research and activity around the struggles of Chinese migrant workers and will use words, photos, and films to present the situation at Foxconn. Visit http://www.gongchao.org/en/islaves-struggles.

61] – On Thurs., Apr. 25 from 6 to 9 PM, the Greater Baltimore Children and Nature Collaborative is holding a Forum on “How Nature Connections Empower Communities”. The presentations will include Community Naturalists, Art in Nature, the Nature-Health Connection, and Nature Discovery through Play. RSVP at mary.hardcastle@baltimorecity.gov or 410-396-7020.

62] – Attend an Immigration Forum on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 6:30 PM at Communication Workers of America, 501 3rd St. NW, First Floor Conference Room. Join APALA-DC, NAPAWF-DC, and NQAPIA for a conversation about comprehensive immigration reform and what it means for those whose needs and voices have been largely marginalized by the dominant national conversation- including temporary workers, LGBTQ Asian immigrants, and immigrant survivors of violence. Hear the latest on the immigration reform debate locally and nationally, share your own stories, and find out how you can advocate for immigrants’ rights in your community. RSVP at http://upliftingallvoices.eventbrite.com/.

63] – As part of Writers Live, Michael T. Klare talks about his new book, The Race for What's Left: The Global Scramble for the World's Last Resources” on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 7 PM at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Central Library, 400 Cathedral St. Call 410-396-5430. Go to http://www.prattlibrary.org/locations/central.

64] – Healthcare-NOW! of Maryland is screening "The Healthcare Movie," a good learning tool and focus for discussions about single-payer. If you want to set up a showing, call 240-478-8193 (Sergio).

"This 65 minute documentary reveals the intensity of the political struggle that led to Canada's universal medical care system, and exposes public relations campaigns that have been prevalent in the U.S. since the early 1900's to dissuade the American public from supporting national health care. Every day people are dying or going bankrupt due to the ills of the United States system. Who are we in the face of this human tragedy? If you agree that people are more important than profits, then you must see this film." See it at McDaniel College, Room 108 Hill Hall, 1 College Hill, Westminster 21157, on Thurs., Apr. 25 at 7:30 PM. Email info@mdsinglepayer.org.

68] – David Swanson’s latest book is When the World Outlawed War. Go to http://davidswanson.org/outlawry This is an account of how people in the United States and around the world worked to abolish war as a legitimate act of state policy and won in 1928, outlawing war with a treaty that is still on the books. Swanson's account of the successful work of those who came before us to insist that war be outlawed points us toward new ways of thinking about both war and political activism.

"One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
