48] – "Somalia: Building Democracy, Peace and Security" will be discussed on Wed., Apr. 10 at 12:15 PM at the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding, Georgetown University, 3700 O St. NW, Bunn Intercultural Center (ICC) Suite 270. Much has happened in Somalia since the official U.S. recognition of the Government of Somalia on Jan. 17, 2013 for the first time in 22 years. On March 3 the Security Council agreed to suspend the arms embargo on the government of Somalia, while providing safeguards to ensure responsible development of the security sector. 49] – On Wed., Apr. 10 from 12:30 to 2:30 PM, Thomas Ricks focuses on Khalil Totah's contributions to Palestinian education during his years as the headmaster of the elite Men's Teacher Training College (Kuliyah al-Arabiyya) in Jerusalem and his long tenure as principal of the widely popular Friends Quaker schools in Ramallah. The topic, Turbulent Times in Palestine: The Diaries of Khalil Totah, 1886-1995, will be discussed at The Palestine Center, 2425 Virginia Ave. NW, WDC 20037. 51] – See a free screening of THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE, the latest film from acclaimed filmmaker Ken Burns in partnership with his daughter Sarah Burns and David McMahon. The film, which is a WETA co-production, tells the story of the five black and Latino teenagers from Harlem who were wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in New York City’s Central Park in 1989. THE CENTRAL PARK FIVE premieres on WETA Television on Tues., Apr. 16 at 9 PM. It will also be shown on Wed., Apr. 10 from 6:30 to 9 PM at Prince George’s Community College, Rennie Forum, 301 Largo Road, Largo, MD.
